Ashley’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks

If you’re anything like me, and follow bloggers on Instagram or on their actual blogs… you are probably aware of this little Anniversary Sale that Nordstrom has going on right now. There are a lot of fashion bloggers out there who just go cray and buy a crap ton of stuff. Unfortunately we are not THAT fancy around here yet, but I couldn’t help but be swayed to shop a little due to the inundation of posts about the sale that are filling up my social media feeds!

What is Nordstrom? It’s an online and brick and mortar retailer that sells all kinds of clothing and home goods. Basically it is a department store that sells name brand things that are usually out of the average shopper’s price range, but during their annual Anniversary Sale – you can get things like a pair of Hunter Rain boots at a fraction of the original price! It’s just honestly a great time to stock up on some basics that will last you for years without having to pay that shocking full price.

While there are a TON of things that I want from the sale, I’m going to keep it real real and show you the few things I’m actually getting. 😉

And, as I said above – the sale opened to public access on July 20th – so there are a lot of things that are sold out. However, I would suggest go ahead and add them to your wish list, because they are continually restocking items!

Anddd – speaking of wish lists –  if you’re interested these are some things that are on MY wish list to scoop up whenever they are restocked which MAY be after the sale ends on August 5th – but I’ve been coveting them for a while now so I’ll pay full price for them. 🙂

Aiden Wedge Sneaker

( Sale $79.80 // Original $119.95 )
[size 10, 11, & 12 still available at sale price]

Flashback Sneaker – ADDIDAS

( Sale $67.90 // Original $90.00 )
[ Sizes 5 & 5.5 still available at sale price]

What are you guys’ picks? Have you shopped the Anniversary Sale before?

Cute Finds: Toddler Girl Clothes on Amazon

Hey you guys! I hope you had a fabulous weekend. Hopefully at the time that you’re reading this – we are moved into our house. While I’m writing this, I just found out that some things happened that could possibly delay our closing for 3-4 days which SUCKS … so I decided to console my little broken heart with some good ole retail therapy!

Honestly this whole thing started with a dress I saw on an instagram account I follow which then turned into a whole wormhole of digging through some CUTE stuff on Amazon after realizing said cute dress was on Amazon!

So anyway, here I am sulking and sharing with you some super cute things I found for my little Soso. I realize we are now all thinking of preparing for fall and winter wardrobes so maybe your little girl’s summer wardrobe is stocked – BUT I really think that most these pieces will transition well into the fall with some cute jackets and tights. Not to mention here in Mississippi – we don’t get fall weather until late November. 😉

I hope you enjoy!

CHASING VOLUME: A BLOWOUT WITH OUT THE BLOW DRYER

I don’t know about you guys, but I am always always chasing volume when it comes to styling my hair. I’ve got super thin and fine hair that kind of just hangs there limply unless I do something to it.

My favorite thing to do to really pump some volume into my lifeless hair? Man. I love a good blowout. I give myself one after every time that I wash my hair. And let me just say, that after years of practice – I’ve gotten pretty good at it.

The thing is. I don’t wash my hair everyday. I typically wash my hair every 3-4 days. So. What do I do about getting some volume in my hair on those no wash days? Well. I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve, and I thought maybe you guys would be interested in hearing how to achieve that blow out look without the use of a blow dryer!

First things first? The hair that I’m talking about working on is day 2 or 3 after you’ve washed and blow dried your hair. I always use a heat protectant and some volumizing mousse when I am going from wet hair to blown out and dried hair. So just keep in mind that the look I achieve is with those products already in my hair.

Alright, so it’s day 2 or 3 after your wash and you need to kick up those roots and give your hair some oomph! Here’s the things you need:

Large Velcro Curlers

Hair Brush

Flat Iron

Volumizing Dry Shampoo

Volumizing Spray

Flexible Hold Volumizing Hairspray

  1. Brush all the tangles from your hair.
  2. Use your flat iron to smooth down your hair, curl under the ends, and remove any kinks left in your hair from a ponytail holder, headband, or just plain ole sleeping gymnastics.
  3. Lift and spray the roots of your hair with the dry shampoo. Allow the dry shampoo to set then flip your head over and use our fingertips to rub in/distribute the dry shampoo.
  4. Begin by grabbing a 1-2 inch section of hair. Brush the section then spray the section with the volumizing spray from root to tip (spraying along the underside of your hair section). Wrap the section of hair around a velcro curler. Repeat this step until the top two third sections of your hair are in curlers.
  5. Lightly spray over all your curlers with the hairspray.
  6. Continue on with your morning. Put your makeup on. Make and drink your coffee. Search for ten minutes before you find a matching pair of socks for your toddler’s outfit. Or just browse social media on your phone. Whatever you do – I’d let the curlers rest for at least 20-30 minutes.
  7. Remove the curlers. Use your fingertips to rub and shake up your roots to pump your hair up even more. Like sky high. Because inevitably your hair will fall a little bit. Give your whole head a nice generous spray of the hairspray.
  8. Look in the mirror and be amazed at that fresh blow out look that you achieved without a blow dryer!

See the difference?? Obviously, I’d also done a full face of makeup between the before and after. That makes a huge difference too. 😉 LOL But seriously this method just really wakes up and gives some oomph to my flat bed head that I wake up with! 🙂

Also, I am on the hunt for some scentless volumizing spray and setting spray – do you guys have any suggestions? If so, please leave me a comment and I’ll for sure try them!

An Unsolicited Review of Women’s Foldover Faux Leather Backpack – Mossimo Supply Co.™

I recently bought this Foldover Backpack/Purse from Target and I’m pretty much in love with it. So much so that I thought I’d do a whole little blog post about it. 😉

The truth is I’ve had it on my mind for a while now that I wanted to find a purse/backpack contraption to use so that I could ditch the diaper bag and to also relieve some of the strain that using a crossbody style purse was putting on my shoulder.

I really love having a large purse that I can just throw whatever I think I might need into it without it becoming unmanageably overstuffed. However, when I’m moming with two littles it’s so not effective to try to keep track of them plus a huge shoulder bag. So, in general since both my kids have been walking and running away from me in parking lots or kicking and screaming as I try to lift them into the buggy so that I can strap them down, I’ve been wearing a crossbody purse so that my hands are free to wrangle the wildlings. 😉

And until recently, using a crossbody purse has worked out really great – until like I said, I noticed I had lingering pain in my right shoulder from wearing it.

A couple weekends ago, Sophie and I were about to head to Hattiesburg for a morning to visit their zoo when I realized that I really needed to nail down that choice for a purse/backpack because I was for sure not going to be able to handle walking around for hours with my crossbody purse tugging at my shoulder. So, obviously I pointed my car straight toward my local Target to pick up a certain backpack/purse I’d been eyeing there during earlier Target runs.

So far, this bag has worked wonderfully to fulfill my needs. My only regret is that it doesn’t have the option to move the straps and make it become a crossbody or full on shoulder strap purse if the occasion would arise that I’d want that kind of purse. Besides that minor and totally overlookable detail since the purse is only $29.99 (!!) – I am one hundred percent pleased with my purchase.

It’s got one large section that zips up and is perfect for storing extra clothes, pull-ups, wipes, sunscreen, toys, or whatever other random items I need for the kids. In front of the large zip up portion is a huge pocket that I use to put my actual purse items in which include things like my wallet, keys, sunglass, etc. There are also two little smaller zip up sections on the front of the backpack that are perfect for my lipsense color and gloss tubes. 🙂

It’s just an incredibly functional bag PLUS its pretty cute if I do say so myself. I still will grab my crossbody for going to work, because the kids aren’t with me and so I don’t need all their things with me.

So, what say you gals and/or guys – what kind of purse/bag do you prefer?
