What We Wore

Hey y’all! Welcome back to another Wednesday of parading our fanciest of outfits for you guys to oogle over. JK hehe Anyway, you guys know the drill – if not, today is the day of the week that we compile our chosen outfits from the previous week. Why are we showing you what we wore? Well, we like clothes and take joy in choosing our outfits each day. Also, we are hoping to maybe inspire you whenever YOU are standing at your closet….staring…thinking to yourself , “I have NO clothes.” I mean, at least that’s usually what WE think when we are doing that. 🙂 So yeah, we hope you enjoy seeing what we’ve worn!

What’s In Our Bags?

Happy Friday, y’all!  Among our favorite posts from bloggers are always the “What’s in my bag?” posts.  Here we are to show you what’s in OURS today.  In the spirit of transparency and keeping it real, we did not hide anything or clean it out before photographing.

Mine is a bit horrifying.  I don’t even know how all of this shit fit into that medium-sized purse.

(Purse is Betsey Johnson, Wallet is thirty-one)

Huge wallet is full of credit cards, my ID, and a couple rewards cards that I need to scan onto my phone. There is some change as well.

Spare key to my ex’s van.  I have been carrying it around to give it to him when I see him, but I always forget.

Sunnies from Amazon.  I have these in 6 colors.

Rewetting drops for my contacts.

Antibacterial gel.

Ponytail holder for my daughter.

Lip products galore.  The shiny palette is the Vice lipstick palette from Urban Decay.  I carry it around sometimes just to have lots of lippie options in one place.  Then there’s two Colourpop, a Rimmel, a NYX, a Milani and two lip balms.

Cashews.  Keeping a snack in my purse keeps me from grabbing something bad when I’m hangry.

A rogue Skittle.

Receipts.  I am not sure how these ended up in my purse, as I have a very specific method of dealing with them.  I check and scan them for rebates, then toss them.

Papers. There is a used grocery list and my temporary license, which is no longer needed.

Pen.  I seriously have never seen this pen.

Shout wipes.  I sometimes dribble coffee or wine on myself when out and about.  Plus, four kids.

Medications.  There is Advil and some intestinal stuff, because my anxiety literally makes me sick.

The Purse – This is a CATO purse that was actually part of a two for one type thing. It is a little cross body that was inside a larger shoulder bag. I’ve had it for over a year now, and I JUST pulled it out about a week or so ago to use.

Inside Pocket – This is my little area where I stash check stubs and other important documents I need close at hand. Secret ish stuff you know. 😉

Wallet – Target wallet. It’s pretty simple in design. On the other side is just the pocket for my DL. There is one little zipper that holds cash/coins (on the RARE occasion that I have any…tip money?? Not me ma’am…can’t I swipe my card???)

Lippies –  This is normal..right? Ha. So on the left are all the current lippies that are chilling in my purse. The right are ones that LIVE there.

So starting with the top left I have my EOS hand lotion. A must for this dry skinned lady. Top right is a random pair of janky head phones (yes that is scotch tape on them). And the bottom are my current pair of sunglasses.

And last, we have my emergency bag. It’s one of my Ipsy bags (obviously). I keep extra feminine products, contact case, and a ziplock bag with one dose of Ibuprofen.  The essentials man. 😉

And that’s it ladies and gentlemen! Hope you enjoyed checking out what we stash in our purses. TGIF!!!

What We Wore

Hey hey! It is Wednesday again…you know that day of the week when we show you all our fancy smancy clothing choices. 😉 Really though, thanks for continuing (or taking a chance – if this is your first time ) to check us out. We try to be honest. We don’t want to edit our lives or our clothing choices. This is what we are wearing. Sometimes it’s something super cute and mind blowing. Sometimes, we go to our go to favorite looks. (aka black leggings and chambray tops… if you are Ashley) Sometimes, we are just trying to remix and reuse things we’ve worn a million times before. Either way we hope you enjoy seeing what we’re in – and maybe gain a little inspiration for your own clothing choices.

Jacket: CATO (no longer available) Shirt: Forever21 [similar] Pants: Target Denizen Earrings: N&S Matte Gold

Shirt: Old Navy (old..no longer available) [similar] Pants: Dark Wash Jeans – Jordache  [I know they look black…but shockingly they aren’t 😉 ] Sandals: CATO from last year Earrings: N&S Gypsy Teal

Tee: Old Navy, no longer available.  Shorts: Old Navy, exact style no longer available. Shoes: Betseyville for Target, no longer available.

Hoodie: Super old, I think from Ross.  Leggings: Lularoe.

These pictures are horrific but this outfit gave me life.  Cardigan: The brand tag says Simply Couture, but  I got mine when it was on Zulily.  It has been there a couple of times, so it could come back.  Cami: Old Navy. Leggings: Lularoe. Shoes: Target, not currently available, but there are a couple similar.

Yes, I wore my pajamas all day.  Nightgown: Betsey Johnson. Robe: Avidlove from Amazon. Knee high socks: Amazon. (And can someone please clean that mirror?!?)

Top: Daniel Rainn, got mine from Nordstrom Rack last year, so I am sure you can’t get it anywhere unless you find it secondhand.  I will tell you, I feel so good in this top and get so many compliments. Shorts: Old Navy, this style no longer available.

Dress: Old Navy, no longer available. Necklace: Premier Designs. Shoes: Converse.

Doing these outfit posts weekly has taught me something very important – it’s time for a closet edit… and some shopping!

Guest Blogger: Rain in Style

Hi, everyone! Rhonda and Ashley asked me to write a guest post for them and I am so excited! I’d love to chat a little about being a style addicted stay at home mom. What does that even mean?! Being a style addicted stay at home mom? Well, it means a lot of things to me, so grab some coffee (or wine… because let’s be honest, I’m a wine loving mom too) and let’s chat.

First, a little about me. My name is Lorraine, from Rain in Style (find my blog at www.raininstyle.com). I’m 36 and have two young kids ages 6 and 4.5 (that ½ is important… I’m reminded almost daily that’s she’s half way to 5). I left my job in the advertising photography world when my son was born and have been a stay at home mom ever since. And that’s about the same time my style sense and love for style took a back seat to all the demands of being a new mom. In fact, I didn’t really pay very much attention to myself at all until a little over a year ago. That’s when I had reached my breaking point of going weeks without shaving, wearing jeans all year long, and not caring about how I presented myself, so long as my kids were well dressed and bathed. Them before me….that’s the mama code, am I right?

But, what if I told you that sometimes it’s ok to say, me first. For example, I will tell my kids, “no, I can’t help you put together a 1 million piece lego set until I’ve had at least three cups of coffee, or two glasses of wine”. And I’m cool with that. I’m also perfectly fine with saying, “mama needs time to get dressed, put makeup on and breathe a little bit before I go down to make you breakfast”. Why? Because I’ve come to realize that if I don’t do these things for myself, I’m no good to anyone else. Wearing the mom uniform of yoga pants and t-shirts just didn’t make me feel like I was at my very best. That affects my mood, and, if the mama ain’t happy, ain’t no one happy.

So how? How do I muster the energy to take care of me? Especially since I’m not going out anywhere fancy, I mean, let’s be honest, the school drop off line and grocery store runs aren’t that glamourous. And yet, I won’t leave the house unless I feel put together. How? You give your self permission to, and let go of that mama guilt. Easier said then done, I know. For me, I want to show my kids (especially my daughter), that just because I’m a mom, doesn’t mean I have to sacrifice everything else; and for my son, I want to show him that just because I wear heels and makeup doesn’t mean that I’m only skin deep. I might have given up my career to stay at home and raise my kids, but I don’t need to give up my personal joys and self love to be a mom. Start with easy outfits. If you like makeup, then start simple. Have crazy mornings? Shower at night, that’s what I do. Plan your outfits ahead of time. Look for ways to streamline your mornings without taking away time from yourself. Let “me time “ be like a cup of coffee…. You need it, your family needs you to have it, the world around you thanks you for drinking it, and after you drink it you feel like you can conquer the world!

Yes, I’m serious. People will often ask me if I work, and when I say that I stay at home (although I do have part time jobs) they are surprised that I always look so nice. Since when does being a stay at home mom with young kids mean that you have to wear yoga pants and t-shirts all of the time?!? I don’t understand. And, honestly, I don’t think that it’s fair to think if a women is dressed nicely then she must have somewhere important to be. My important place to be, is right here waiting in line with my kids…standing tall and confident in my heels, skinny jeans and rockin’ my pink hair. So, be confident, be bold, be a strong mama…just don’t be last.

What We Wore

Hey Guys! So Wednesdays around here will be known as ‘What We Wore Wednesdays’ …. and Winesday, obviously. Haha BUT what we are going to share here on the blog every week are the outfits that we put together. Why? To hold ourselves accountable to make the most use out of our wardrobe. To maybe inspire someone else to try a combination or style they may have not thought of. And mainly, well we love clothes. Talking about clothes. Looking at clothes. Shopping for clothes. Taking selfies of ourselves in clothes. 🙂 Sooo anyway, enough with the chit chat! Please, scroll on down and take a look at what each of us wore this past week:
