Life Lately

Happy Monday, party people!  It’s time for a check in, where we fill you in on the last couple of weeks in our lives and you tell us what’s new with you!

Rhonda –

It has been an amazing couple of weeks over at my house.  Holy moly, what a busy month.  And to think, Stuart and I thought April was going to be boring and quiet.  HA!  We don’t know how to do boring; that’s for damn sure.

We hosted a 30th birthday party for our friend Jenn.  It was a nice laid-back cookout with friends and I think she really enjoyed herself, which is all we wanted.

We dined out a couple of times.  We don’t do that often, but make sure to do take them out as much as we can.  It’s important to me that my kids don’t grow up the way I did, afraid to even order from a server.  We make them order themselves and teach them to be patient waiting for their food to arrive.  They definitely still need practice.  Lawd.

We also are working on decorating and upgrading some furnishings in the house.  We hit up IKEA and loaded as much stuff into the Flex as possible.  What you’re looking at is a bookshelf, a dresser, a dining table, six chairs, and a sideboard!  Holy moly.  I’ll be so glad when we are done putting it all together.  We have been so busy doing other stuff, that we haven’t been able to dedicate enough time to assembly.  We will get there though!

As usual, we have spent a lot of time outdoors and Harper, Quentin, and I all got new bikes!  I was completely surprised by mine and I am also surprised by how much I enjoy riding it!

We wrapped up this past weekend by taking the kids to their first professional baseball game.  The Rangers defeated the Mariners and we had a great family time!

Ashley –

Gosh. I feel the same as Rhonda…seems like so much has happened over the past couple of weeks.

Obviously the usual of work and school took place. We’ve been having hit and miss Spring weather (like most everywhere…) so whenever we can we are outside enjoying the sunny days.

The weekend before last we had my Papa’s funeral which was super sad but it was also really nice to get to see family that I don’t get to see often. My cousin has a son who is only a month younger than Sophie, so it’s always really cute to see the two of them interact in person. We do a lot of snapchatting to each other about the two of them. 🙂 Sophie is SO tall though. She’s a good five inches taller than Krystal’s son and weighs 12 pounds more!

That Saturday after the funeral, I hopped in my car and headed to Destin, Fl to see friends of mine who are in the band, Light Up the Moon, play at Aj’s in Destin. It was so much fun. They aren’t local – they’re based in PA – so it was really nice to get to see them again!

Cooper got this bubble gun for his birthday from his Aunt Marie and her crew, and it has just been a huge hit around here. I went out and got a similar one for Sophie to use in order to curb and fights over whose turn it is to use it, BUT we are just loving playing with them. We’ve taken them to the park a couple of times and all the other children really enjoy it too. So, if you’re looking for an easy and relatively cheap form of entertainment, go to Walmart and get a bubble gun…or two! We’ve always played with bubble…but having this little battery powered bubble blower has made the whole experience even more enjoyable AND less messy. Those are two major wins in my book.

And then this past weekend the weather was beautiful. Things were back to routine after three weekends of dealing with deaths and funerals. The kids got to go stay with Grammy and Ppop on Friday night. And Saturday night I got to hang out with some of my fave adults, my sister – her husband – and our friend Michael. We did dinner and drinks followed by a night at the Chill Bar at the IP Casino. 🙂 A wee bit too much wine was consumed, but it was lots of fun. 🙂

Anddd that’s about it! What have you guys been up to?

Life Lately

Hey hey! Every other Monday we spend a little time catching you guys up on what’s been going on in each of our lives.

Ashley –

Hey Hey! Gosh – I feel like we have done SO MUCH over the past two weeks. We’ve had holidays and birthdays and parties which were all filled with so much happiness and love – and then we had some grief and sadness in the form of some loved ones passing away. It’s just really been a whirl wind!

Me with my Pawpaw MANY years ago. Don’t I look just like my Sophie??

Let’s do the heavy stuff first though? My paternal grandfather, aka Pawpaw, passed away on March 29th. It was a very unexpected thing, and I expounded upon my thoughts here in this post.  His funeral was this past Friday, April 6. While we were riding to the VA Cemetery for his final services, my Mom got a call that her father, aka Papa, had passed away that morning. I mean. It was incredibly emotional. And just all so unexpected. Death is a part of life, but it’s never easy to see your loved ones leave.

Balancing at the park. 🙂

Some light things? We had a fabulous Easter that was filled with celebrations of life and family and multiple Easter Egg Hunts. Cooper even had an Easter Parade that his PreK 4 Class put on for the rest of the school. The kids each wore an ‘Easter Hat’ that their parents made. It was super cute. 🙂

Coop was on Spring Break this last first week in April, and I stayed home with him Monday – Wednesday (well BOTH kids…lol). We had a lot of fun. We made several park trips. Cooper went to the doctor for his big boy 5 yr old check up that included shots 🙁 , we went to the beach on Tuesday, and Coop even had his first sleep over with Aunt Grace on Tuesday night.

Egg Hunt at Grammy and Ppop’s

Then along with my Pawpaw’s funeral being on Friday – we had a jam packed weekend. The following Saturday, I ran around all morning getting together last minute stuff together for Coop’s Bday party that Sunday. Saturday night we went to my Aunt’s engagement party. And then Sunday was Cooper’s Party at the Mullethop Trampoline Park.

Bed Head at the Beach 🙂

Then Sunday night it was back to reality with getting things together for the upcoming Monday filled with work and school. 🙂

Rhonda –

I can’t even adequately describe the insanity of the last couple of weeks.  God bless.  For starters, I have been sick the entire time.  So that’s awesome.  I got well for literally like 2 days then started feeling awful again.

Easter was a lot of fun though.  The day before was supposed to be Claudia’s fourth birthday party, but we were all too sick to have people over.  So we celebrated her with some cupcakes and a couple of gifts, then let the fun spill into Easter.  I made a huge feast and Stuart and I hid eggs for the kids.  I can’t believe how much fun we all even when things are just kept low-key.

I launched my boutique a week ago and that has kept me extremely busy, as you can imagine!

When we finally had her birthday party, we all had the best time.  We got to know some of our neighbors and hang out with our usual besties too.  I am so thankful for friends you never want to leave.

We watched a lot of sunsets and did a lot of porch front sitting.

Life Lately

Hey hey! Every other Monday we spend a little time catching you guys up on what’s been going on in each of our lives.

Ashley –

Hmm… I always have to look back through the pictures I’ve taken and take a glance at the calendar to remember exactly what I’ve spent the past two weeks doing. LOL

We celebrated two birthdays: my brother’s on the 12th and mine on the 21st. Shane turned 25, and I turned 33. I actually can’t believe he is only 25, because I feel like he’s got his life together in ways that far surpass most people of his age…or even most people older than him. I’m a pretty proud big sister. 🙂 I mean, can I just take a few moments to brag on him? This kid went to college after high school, then immediately got a full time job wherein he has been incredibly successful. He’s already bought a house, and he is an amazing uncle to my kids. He is thoughtful and generous and always willing to help when you ask him to.  We just think he’s the best. 🙂

As for me? I mean…I’m a work in progress – I feel really good about 33 though. 🙂

Let’s seee what else? Coop has been doing great at school. We’ve been seeing some fluctuation in behavior according to the color chart that gets sent home each day in his folder but that’s normal. He just started learning how to write his last name and we are super impressed by his progress. 🙂

Sophie also likes to talk about ‘what color she got for the day’ – even though she’s not actually getting colors. She’s gotta do whatever big brother is doing..of course.

A major thing that happened last Thursday morning..my dad scared the crap out of all of us when he got dizzy and fell and hit the back of his head – ending up in the ICU.  🙁  He’s getting better now which is a major relief.

Anddd I got to see Rhonda this past Friday night. She was down on the coast for a hair color update…so we did our usual and spent Friday night at the Chill Bar in the IP Casino. It was so much fun!

Rhonda –

Like Ashley, I find myself on Life Lately days staring at my camera roll and trying to figure out just where the last 2 weeks went.

I tell you though, for the most part I have been soaking up life.  The weather has been great and, with the time change, the sunset sometimes doesn’t occur until Stuart is home to enjoy it with us.  It’s been lovely to check it out from the front porch.

The relaxing on the porch hasn’t been without work, though.  During the day, I’ve been busting my ass so that I can launch my boutique a week from today!

I got to have time with some of my best girlfriends in the last couple of weeks.  I had a Girls Night Out with my local besties.  We went to the Stockyards on a very stormy night and had a freaking blast.

This past weekend, I went on a super quick trip to Mississippi to get my hair done.  I squeezed in a night out with Ashley before hitting the road extremely sick.

I originally thought I was hungover, except I was hit with a fever, body aches, and extreme chest pain and congestion.  That made for a fun ride home!

What have y’all been up to?

Life Lately

Welcome back to another review of what we’ve been up to.  Is the time change killing you today?  It’s a struggle over here for sure.

Let’s get on with it.

Rhonda-

Life has been pretty good to me lately.  I have been able to enjoy life a little more, while still accomplishing things.  I got to check a concert off my extensive with list when Stuart and I went to see Brett Young.  It was amazing. as I expected.

The weather has been really nice and warm (until a cold front came through yesterday) so we have spent a lot of time out front playing.  I decided to take advantage of all the time I was having to spend out there watching the kids and give our front porch a makeover.  I can’t wait to show y’all what I did.  I am almost finished and will do a post about it.

I was so excited to spend time with some of our favorite people this past weekend, when we went to Wyatt’s birthday party.  Wyatt’s family is our favorite and this was our first time to go out to their farm.

My outdoor lovers had a great time running around outside without fear of being hit by a car.  We drank a little (a lot) and just enjoyed the company of our besties.

Most excitingly, I got much closer to launching my new online boutique!  My inventory has started arriving and it’s been fun to dress myself from my own store!  Stay tuned for all the info on this new business for sure.

Ashley-

Hey y’all hey! What’s been going on in my neck of the woods? Not to much beyond just enjoying the everyday with my littles and family. Until recently, the weather has also been nice in South Mississippi – so we have been able to enjoy the outdoors a lot.

Work is work and school is school lately. I honestly am pretty boring this life lately post….sooo I’ll just leave you with some pictures and go with that!

Mommy and Sophie beach trip one day while Coop was at school. Don’t tell him we went. 😉

Oh you know, just a bad guy mask Coop developed himself. We live in a state of constant “gunfire” and having to come up with “missions” for him to accomplish.

That? Well that’s a little swimming pool made out of a fire pit with some bubbles for good measure. 😉

Chick – Fil – A with Grammy and Ppop!

Anddd one of the many playground park adventures these two take part in.

What have YOU guys been up to?

Life Lately

Hey y’all hey! It’s an every other Monday over here which means we are spilling the beans on what life has looked like lately for each of us.

Ashley –

Hmmm, I feel like a whole lot and yet a whole lot of nothing has happened over the past two weeks. First of all,  I can’t believe that I’m staring at the face of March.  March is the start of a maddening birthday season for my family. Seems like everybody and their momma were conceived around July or August. lol

But anyway…what are some things that we were up to? Let’s see, there were at least two trips to Chuckie Cheese for Soso and Coop. There was a couple days where we got to go down to the beach and dip our toes…and feet…and eventually entire baby bodies in the sand. I don’t know why I ever think that the kids will just walk on the sidewalk and not drench themselves in sand. 🙂 It was nice though. I’m ready for some moreeeee Spring/Summer weather.

Rhonda, Stuart, and the kids came down for several days so I got to hang with them for a bit. Sophie and Claudia got to meet for the first time since Sophie was a teeny baby, and Stuart, Rhonda and I got to go out to our fave bar at the IP Hotel and Casino for a Friday night of vodka induced shenanigans. I got to go back to the IP yesterday (Saturday) for a little morning spa/massage day which was incredibly nice! If you’re local, you need to check out the Senses Spa at the IP in Biloxi.

Beyond that things have been pretty chill and business as usual. I’ve been abstaining from wine for the month of February to push through some health and weight loss goals. I’ve definitely noticed some results physically and mentally, so that’s super nice. I am looking forward to Wine Wednesday on March  7…cause I’m going to allow myself to have some then. 😉

Things with Coop at school are still great. He’s been having some ‘ears listening’ issues…but it’s not everyday and he’s working hard and progressing in so many other ways at school. And Sophie? Well she’s a little hot mess express all bundled up in incredible cuteness and personality spunk. She’s recently discovered Sophia the First on Netflix…so she’s on a bit of a princess kick which is super cute.

But yeah. That’s about it for us…what about you Rhonda?

Rhonda –

The past couple of weeks have been SO good to me!  Granted, it’s been stressful…but still lovely.

We finally got to go see my new nephew in Mississippi. He is the stinking cutest and I kind of can’t handle it!

While we were there, we saw Ashley and Sophie, as she told you.  Sophie and Claudia weren’t fast friends, but it is what it is at this age.  Claudia and Skylar, though?  Besties.  Skylar is the daughter of Shelby, my sister-in-law’s sister-in-law.

While in Mississippi, I got to stop by my stylist Savannah’s salon for a shampoo and blowout.  Then Stuart and I went shopping before going out with Ashley and Grace.

This past week was spent recovering from the long trip.  It poured rain for 5 days straight.  Just before we had to build an ark, it got nice for the weekend and we spent most of it either running errands or in the driveway.  We grilled, of course.

What have you been up to lately?  Anything fun to share?

Life Lately

Hey hey! It’s that time again where we look over the past couple of weeks and give you guys a glimpse into what’s been going on in our lives. Ready to dive in?

Ashley –

I was just looking back over the photos in my phone to kind of jog my memory on what exactly I’ve been doing, and I’m always embarrassingly shocked at the amount of screen shots vs actual pictures I take. LOL

But yeah, to all the things I’ve been doing. Work and school have been business as usual around these parts. Last week Cooper’s Dad and I totally thought that it was Mardi Gras. We’d been saying to Coop how he was going to have a long weekend. Then, I went over to my parent’s house that Sunday and mom informed me that I was totally wrong about what date it was. Mardi Gras wasn’t until the NEXT week (aka THIS week when you’re reading this). Oops. Thankfully, Coop just rolled with it and went on to school like it was NBD. 🙂

The weather has been pretty nice. We actually were able to go play at the park and even take a walk on the beach. I cannot wait for some warm southern weather. The kids and I are itching to spend some lazy off days down on the sand and in the water.

It’s crazy to think we are already knee deep in February 2018, because that means Coop’s birthday is just around the corner. He’s going to be FIVE. Like. That’s a big number. A huge deal. I just can’t handle it. He on the other hand? He’s super excited. We’ve already been planning what he wants to do, and he’s got a list of video games that he wants that is a mile long.

This past Friday night I got to have a little girl’s night which was super fun. And this coming up Friday night I get to see Rhonda since she will be in town seeing her brand new nephew!

Anddd that’s about it…what about you boo? What’s been going on in Fort Worth?

Rhonda –

We have had a crazy couple of weeks at my house and, like Ashley, I had to scroll back through my phone photos to refresh my memory.  Also like Ashley, I had tons of screenshots.  oops.

We had a super fun SuperBowl party with all of our favorite people.  I always enjoy hosting our many parties, but they can be stressful with all the buying and preparing food and drinks, cleaning before and after, and just hoping people actually come.   I gave myself a little grace with this party and we made it a potluck.  GOOD DECISION.  I was SO CHILL getting ready for the party!  Everyone brought something to add to the spread and they brought their own booze too.  My bank account was happy and everyone had something they love available to eat.

I always enjoy watching people’s kids play with kids their age, especially when they are kids who don’t get to do that often.  It’s so good for them!

My mom’s group and I had planned a night out – dinner and drinks and dancing.  Only four of us went but we had the best time.  We went to downtown Fort Worth, where we had dinner then barhopped.  I checked an item off my bucket list, dancing on the Coyote Ugly bar!

And then – THEN! – my sweet nephew Nolan was born.  We had all been waiting so long for this and I was sad to not be able to be there, but I am so grateful to my mom and my fellow new Aunt, Shelby, for keeping me updated!  My amazing sister-in-law was texting me pictures just a couple of hours after her c-section!  I love my family and so pleased to say I will be seeing them this week.  We are headed out to Mississippi by 5 am tomorrow.

Anyway, as usual our week involved some playing outside  and some crying.  I mean, if you’re 3 and you don’t cry for no reason, are you even living?

Over this past weekend, I had another dinner and drinks evening with my mom friends.  I had an emotional breakdown at the end, because I got all up in my feelings but it was fine.  We all talked it out and they amazingly still like me, so it was a success.

Stuart surprised me with a pile of presents that I am so so excited about!  I got an Aunt shirt I had been coveting, another addition to my Alex and Ani collection, and some tech accessories!

Now to go prepare for the wild adventure of taking 4 children on a long drive!

Life Lately

Heeey you guys! We thought we’d spend a few minutes this morning sharing with y’all about what has been going on in our lives lately. So, grab your coffee…or adult beverage…and hang with us for a while.

Ashley –

Let’s see let’s see… it has still been incredibly cold here on a regular basis. It literally feels like the LONGEST WINTER EVER. I’ve become that annoying person who complains about the cold too much. I can’t help it though.

Coop has still been rocking at school drop off…and just school in general. His dad and I decided to keep him at St. Al’s for at least one more year through Kindergarten. We think he is going to need the stability and sameness that will come with staying at the same school. Plus, he just loves it there. And so do we. Speaking of this week is Catholic Schools Week. Which just basically means they have some fun things planned for the kids and teachers. I guess it’s kind of like a spirit week.

What about Sophie? Well she is a little hot mess. She’s constantly into everything..like it seems as if sometimes she walks around trying to cause havoc just because she can. LOL I love it though. Also, her hair is at the point that it’s so long that I have to do something with it everyday. This is a stage that I both dreaded and looked forward. Having a little girl with long hair that you can style and play with is so fun, but the reality is that she hates it. It’s a struggle. A simple top knot with a bow is our easy peasy go to. It looks put together and her hair is out of her eyes: win win.

And me? Oh you know – same same. There’s been lots of shopping, meme sharing, working, and most currently trying to plan a trip in late February to go see my Boo Thing (aka Rhonda) in Fort Worth! I also experienced the traumatic event of trying to get a splinter out of the finger of my hysterical four year old little boy. I think we both have PTSD from that incident. Before Christmas I had a little accident in the Starbucks parking lot, and I was finally able to get my car to the shop to get that damage fixed the week before last. Then this past weekend my brother put four new tires on my car. And now I feel like I’m driving around in a brand new car which is super nice.

I think that’s most of the high points…what about you Rhonda?

Rhonda –

January seems to be just dragging on forever, if I’m being honest here.  Goodness, I can’t believe it’s not over.  Like, it’s shocking.

We celebrated Nick turning 12 this month, which was a hard pill for this Mama to swallow.  I feel like it was just yesterday that I became a mother, but I’ve been doing it A DOZEN YEARS?!  Jesus.  We had a great turnout for his Star Wars themed party.

We also VERY unexpectedly and suddenly bought a car.  It was so needed.  Six people don’t exactly fit into a Toyota Camry.  We got a Ford Flex and it’s fully loaded with things I didn’t know existed – things I didn’t realize I needed.  I am a little obsessed.  I may even do a whole blog post on the things I love about it.  I want to name the car.  Stuart is confused as to why that’s necessary.  Look, we already know I’m extra.

We got together for a much needed mimosa playdate with my mom group.  I had been missing those gals, as we all hunkered down to avoid the flu all winter.  Bless it.  Speaking of which, nobody in my house got sick through these freezing days, but now that it warmed up to 70 a couple days recently, I have a cold.  Cute.

We have been doing a lot of sitting in the driveway on nice afternoons, riding bikes and scooters and people watching.  We just got new neighbors a few houses down and I have been watching them carefully, trying to figure out if they are people we can befriend.  I have a longtime fantasy of having neighbor best friends.  This family seems to have a mom, dad, and two kids, but that’s all I can say for sure, as many people were in and out during the move-in process.   We will see!

What have you been up to lately?

Life Lately

Hey y’all! If you’re long time readers you may have noticed the absence of our every Monday posts called “Week In Review”. If you’re not a regular…well you haven’t noticed anything missing! BUT in the new year we’ve decided to switch things up around here. Tweak some post series that weren’t working for us, or that started to feel old and tired and tedious. So, we kicked WIR to the curb. We’re going to now do a twice(ish) month post called “Life Lately” wherein we catch you all up on the day to day of each of our lives. So yeah, that’s what leads us to today!

Hey hey…. Ashley here! I’m going to start this week off and Rhonda will follow my spill with all her juicy news. 🙂

Since last time we talked we’ve had Christmas and New Years. Right? And now we are already halfway through January! So. Cray. Anyyywaay, Christmas and New Years were really great. The kids are old enough to totally be aware of what’s happening as far as Christmas traditions and such which makes the holiday even more special. They got way too many toys – but we all (by all I mean the WHOLE family) can’t help but spoil those babies. So. #sorrynotsorry

New Year’s Eve was pretty low key. The kids and I went to a party hosted by one of Coop’s classmate’s parents. And we spent New Year’s Day at my parents.

I am super happy to report that we had an incredibly smooth transition back to PreK when Christmas break was over. I was fully prepared for some pullback and hesitation on Cooper’s part (if you don’t know he’s suffered from serious separation anxiety when starting school). But that kid just marched on into the building like it was no big deal. He’s a legit pro now. 😉

And life has just pretty much gone back to normal. I finally got to see Rhonda when she came down this past weekend for a hair appointment. We got to hang out Friday night and get into all sorts of fun trouble. 🙂

It has been unseasonably cold around here. Yeah, I know it’s winter BUT it’s not usually actually cold. For so many days and weeks in a row.  So – that’s been fun. And different. And makes it incredibly hard to get out of your warm bed. 🙁 lol

That’s about all the major points for me…what about you Rhonda?

Well, it’s been a hell of a month for me.  I kicked off the new year with a ton of goals, which have all but gone to shit already.  Really, its not that I wasn’t reaching them, but shit happens to really make you reassess what your priorities are.

You know how I told y’all I was going to lose all this weight?!  Well I still believe that, but I definitely had a setback with going out of town this past week.  I was on the road a lot and doing a lot of running around, so I definitely consumed some fast food.  That’s okay, though.  Back at it.

December was a really tough month for my business, so I planned to come back with a vengeance in January.  Well, turns out January isn’t amazing for my business either. Oops.  I have not been in the proper mindset the last week or so, due to preparing to go out of town.

As Ashley said, I went to Mississippi this week and it was great.  Thursday, I drove all day then went to dinner with my friends Brooke and Cyndi.  I stayed the night at Brooke’s apartment and we sipped red wine and chatted.  It was so good for soul and exactly what I needed at that time.

Friday, I had my hair appointment and went for something very different! My appointments take several hours, so I had just enough time after to run grab a new top to wear and head to Ashley’s house to get ready.  We went out to our spot and met a lot of new friends and just had the best trouble-making time. 🙂

I went to my sister-on-law’s baby shower in another city on Saturday then stayed the night at their house.  Sunday was back on the road!

It’s been really crazy around here, but I am ready to smash some goals and get back to some sense of normalcy.  I think I’ll start by taking down the  Christmas trees…

Week In Review: Ashley & Rhonda

What’s up you guys? It’s Week In Review time again! Are you freaking out? Have you been refreshing your browser over and over and over to see if we posted yet??? Phew. Good thing for you is that here we are. 😉 Hehe JK We know you get this bad boy emailed to straight to your inbox so you don’t have to do silly stuff like refresh your browser repeatedly! 🙂 🙂 Ok, to the reviewssssss!

Ashley –

First – I cannot believe how this month has flown by, but I am so so so excited for Christmas to get here! I’m like 96% finished with shopping and am looking forward to all the Christmas Weekend festivities that are coming next weekend! Now, what did we do…. well it has been so cold around here! It has really felt like a traditional Winter Holiday season for us which was has been different and nice. We even got a little snow a couple weekends ago!

Besides some pretty cool weather – we got a visit from the nasty Flu Virus in our household. It pretty much knocked all of us on our butts. I still don’t feel completely 100%, but I’m doing much much better. It just has made it hard for me to think beyond the day to day and getting by doing the necessities for myself and the kids. Sadly, the blog suffered because of that BUT like I said I’m feeling better and want to finish out the rest of the year around here strong!

Friday was Cooper’s School Christmas Play…it was so cute! He was a Shepherd. I am always incredibly impressed with the teachers and staff and how they are able to get all those 3-5 year olds to cooperate and participate in a play. They all did an amazing job- the kids and staff! 🙂

This weekend we spent time at Grammy and Ppops per the usual, but on Friday night while the kids stayed the night at Grammy and Ppops their dad and I got to go to the movies which was nice. I literally had not been to the movie theater since this past summer. We watched the newest Star Wars Movie. I LOVED it. I could have literally sat there and watched it all over again.  On Saturday Cooper went with my Dad and Brother to Mobile for some guy shopping stuff, and Sophie, Grammy, and I went to Slidell for Christmas Shopping. Then on Sunday we just pretty much chilled all day. It rained alllll day long so the kids spent the whole day inside terrorizing my brother and sister until they were forced to play bad guys and good guys with Cooper or be led aimlessly around the house by Sophie. Good good times. 🙂 🙂 LOL We also had Cooper’s class teddy home with us for the weekend. Sophie ended up becoming best friends with him. I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to order an identical one from Amazon for her…she didn’t like the idea that teddy was going back to school in the morning.

Really though – besides being freaking sick…this week wasn’t too bad. 🙂 Well. I take that back. Rhonda did get some bad news at the end of the week that also made me sad…but I’ll leave that revelation for her. SO besides those two things….it was a good week and I really always always enjoy getting to spend so much time with my family.

Rhonda –

This past week has been such a rollercoaster ride for me, that I kind of can’t believe that was only a few days.

I ran errands and worked all week, which is nothing new.  I have been severely sleep deprived thanks to my lovely daughter no longer sleeping well at night.  Most of the week was such a blur!

I bought the cutest pillowcases and they’re worth mentioning, as they are totally “us.”

I spent Friday morning and afternoon running around like a crazy person, preparing for that night’s party I was attending.  It was the party for my mom group and I was supposed to bring a couple of sangrias, a donation to a local animal shelter, and a Dirty Santa gift.  I had to wait for my payday though, which was Friday!  So as soon as I could get out of bed, I drove all over creation to get what I needed.

The party was totally worth it!  I had so much fun with my friends, as we always do!

We woke up to rain on Saturday, which is highly unusual for us.  I totally miss having rain a lot, but it is what it is.  We went out and ran errands in it, buying some groceries and things like that.

Sunday, I went out and started (yep, started) Christmas shopping.  I am always at my best at the last minute, so naturally I ended up with some great deals and made a lot of progress.  After dinner, we decorated a gingerbread village, one of our favorite traditions.

It was mostly an amazing week.  The downside was finding out that I would not be going to Mississippi for my birthday as planned.  It was absolutely devastating, because I was getting my hair done finally AND getting to spend time with Ashley.  Making the best of it though and moving on (after all the tears).

Are you having so much fun this holiday season?  What’s your favorite tradition?

What We Wore (and Did) Wednesday

Hey hey! With Ashley being ill and Rhonda being, well, Rhonda, we totally spaced on our Week in Review.  And to be honest, they have become a monotonous chore and we are certain it probably reads that way on your end.  We will be making changes to this feature in the new year.  For now, here’s a peek into what we did this week and what we were wearing.

Rhonda –

Most of the week, I did the thing I do – being a boss babe and a mom.  I ran errands and did something very unusual for me – I wore athleisure.  I still don’t like it.  It was just really cold and I didn’t feel well.

Hoodie: Target last year. Leggings: LLR. Shoes: Old ass Nike. Jacket: Target, no longer available.

Another thing I rarely do?  Anything with Stuart on a weekday.  However, Grapevine, “The Christmas Capital of Texas,” was having their Christmas parade and he took off early on Thursday to take us.  Only Harper and Claudia wanted to go and let me tell you, it was viciously cold.  We even had to go to Target beforehand to get more cold weather gear.

I dressed nice and festive and did my lips to match…not that it mattered because it all got covered up with a jacket and scarf.

Shirt: Amazon. Jeans: Old Navy. Boots: Amazon.

We survived, though I’m not sure I would go again with temps that cold.  We went to Whataburger after and in all, it was a lovely evening.

Saturday, we forced ALL of the kids out of the house and went to Frisco to eat at Mash’d and see the lights set to music in their town square.  I am not sure I would drive to Frisco again just for the light show, as it wasn’t THAT amazing.  I loved it though and it was magical when the fake snow started blowing.

Sunday was spent with a trip to Sam’s club after mimosas.  We wrapped up the evening by decorating the outside of the house and grilling steaks.

I couldn’t have asked for a better week, but I am definitely getting anxious about Christmas.  I still haven’t done any shopping and I have a party Friday night that I haven’t prepped for.  This time of year is so bad for my anxiety!

Ashley –

Well Lord. As Rhonda mentioned – I have been sick. Like kick my butt sick. The Flu invaded our household and has been kicking butt and taking names around here. 🙁 I currently feel a TINY bit better – but no where near one hundred percent. Just. Over it. But anyway – to the outfits and what we did last week.

This past weekend I took Cooper to a classmate’s birthday party at Margaritaville in Biloxi. It was a lot of fun! We hung out in the party room for a while for food and cake and ice cream before the kids were unleashed to the arcade area which was what Cooper had been looking forward to.

We also spent some time over at Grammy and Ppop’s house. You know. Just relaxing… chasing the kids around the backyard. 🙂

And gosh – the rest of the week prior? Just the usual man. This flu invasion has seriously got my mind in a fog. So – I’ll just leave it at that. 🙂 Hope y’all are having a great holiday season so far!
