Week In Review: Ashley & Rhonda

Hey y’all Hey! Welcome back to another Week In Review!! As we discussed last week – for the month of December we will be doing joint WIR posts – to ease up our hectic holiday schedules. So! Let’s see what the both of us were up to:

Ashley –

Alright, alright… let’s seeee. Man. This past week totally flew by, and I wholeheartedly expected it to be a slow week since we were coming off the Thanksgiving holidays. I was wrong. Oh well. It happens every so often. 😉

Things were back to business as usual. We had work and school and evening home stuff – then back to work and school again the next morning. Cooper is doing FANTASTIC at preschool. He breezes through dropoff like its NBD. On Wednesday, I even got a kiss and hug goodbye! Usually, I forgo that whole process cause I’m holding my breath waiting for him to break down. Cooper is pretty much a PreK 4 rockstar these days. His behavior is usually pretty much on point too. We DO need to work more on his sight words. But I mean. One thing at a time right? I was talking to another class mom on Wednesday and she suggested involving him in some after school activities  – so I think beginning in January we are going to look into that. It will give him a chance to have some more socialization with his peers. He did tell me one day that “He wanted to hurry up and get to school early so that he could have more time in the morning with his buddies.” Like. Who is this child?? Really though, I am OVERJOYED at his progress!

I got so much great mail this weekend…presents for the kids… and a lot of stuff for me. I kind of feel like I already went through Christmas for myself!

Saturday morning I had to wake up super early to go help set up the cafeteria for our school’s Breakfast With Santa event. My mom brought the kids up later when it started at eight am. Everything went really well – and Sophie and Cooper really enjoyed it. Sophie didn’t quite enjoy Santa – but as I’ve said…she doesn’t really need people – especially new and strange people.

Sunday – we spent a lazy morning getting ready for hours at home before we headed to my parent’s house for the afternoon where we lounged, ate, and watched an amazing Saint’s football game! That night I went to Walmart for Cooper’s weekly lunch box supplies and we ended the night with a lovely tantrum thrown by a certain four year old because he had to stop playing video games and take a bath… He’s got it rough. lol

Rhonda –

While Ashley happily snapped pictures all week, I was burning the candle at both ends.  While working my own business, I took on a role in a friend’s business and really kicked ass at that all week.  There are hardly any noteworthy things to share here, though.  Definitely go support Baths and Bliss, though. [Edit: reading this back, it sounded like I meant that Ashley was living a life of leisure while I did hard things.  That is SO not what I meant.  I just meant that I hate that I couldn’t take pictures or even remember anything cute my kids did this week.]

Saturday, we made a Sam’s Club trip, mostly just to get toilet paper.  It would be silly to pass up this huge ass box of bacon.  TEN POUNDS FOR THIRTY DOLLARS.  No brainer.

After that, we went to a small birthday gathering for one of my friends.  A lot of my friend group has small babies and I held one.  I know, no big deal to you . ME?  I’m not that person.  But she was cute and she made eye contact and I just had to.  Guess what?  I kinda liked it.

We played Cards Against Humanity and damn, that shit is fun.  If you’ve never played, it’s an absolute must.

Sunday we relaxed all day.  It was so nice to hang out on the patio with Christmas music and champagne and 73 degrees.  After dinner, we went on a moonlit Christmas lights walk in our neighborhood.  I can’t think of a better way to end a great week!

What was your week like?  Are you in full-on Christmas hustle mode yet?

Week In Review: Ashley & Rhonda

Hey y’all hey! It’s Monday which means we spill all the details on what has been going on in our lives over the past week. Usually we do separate WIR posts … but listen – we’ve got that holiday funk something serious. And well, we’re going to just switch things up for the rest of the year and do joint posts. – Cause we need some change.

So, we hope that you had a really amazing Thanksgiving week. We know we did. We both got to spend time with our families. Rhonda’s parents came to TX from MS, and Ashley got several days off from work to be with her local family!

At the beginning of Thanksgiving week a nasty stomach virus reared it’s head at Ashley’s house and poor Coop fell victim to it. 🙁 Also – Ashley has been struggling with a seemingly never ending cold.  Rhonda has some allergy issues that she can’t kick either. Someone want to volunteer to come take care of us??? 😉

We’re surviving though.

Then we both cooked, ate yummy food, and just spent a lot of time living in the moment.  Per usual, there were some stressful mom moments because : kids be cray. lol But overall it was really a lovely week.

After Thanksgiving we both put up our trees and started decorating the house with Christmas holiday cheer. 😉

So yeah, that’s the short and sweet of it… we compiled some pictures for your viewing pleasure! Enjoy and tell us what did YOU guys do over Thanksgiving?

Week In Review: Ashley

Heeeeey y’all! It’s week in review time again… are you excited? You so should be.

Alright – what’s the main story from this past week? Well. We’ve been sick around here. Cooper has had this monster combination of allergies + a cold. Sophie got a little bit of the cold…I got full blown cold plus what I think was a sinus infection. Then thanks to all that drainage happening from the cold and allergy combo, Cooper has developed some stomach issues. So yeah. That has been a BLAST. Anyway – we are surviving it.  Barely. I mean – I keep talking about it and complaining about it…and posting to my Snapchat about it…I’m almost on the level of man cold over here with all the attention I’ve been giving this thing. 😉

Another highlight of the week was Cooper’s Thanksgiving Program and Feast(s) at his school. Wednesday I got to go eat lunch with him in the Cafeteria for the school Thanksgiving lunch day. Friday was the day of the program and the PreK (3&4) feast which took place in the PreK wing at school. It was all super cute and fun. Sitting there watching him during the Program was definitely one of those “dang I’m an adult with kids” moment! He did really well, fulfilling his role as turkey with ease. 😉

This weekend was super chill. The kids went to Grammy and Ppop’s on Friday night so I took full advantage of that. How so you ask? Well – I took my sick butt to bed early and didn’t get out of bed until after 10 am the next day! Super wild times.

Saturday, I joined the kids at my parents. My sister and brother came over and we all just relaxed … well they kind of relaxed. You know, in between the times that Cooper and/or Sophie demanded they play with them. lol As I sat there and listened to Cooper whine that Grace needed to play with him some more, despite the fact that she’d just spent a solid hour running around with the kid playing police man, I thought how one day my time will come when she has kids and I won’t get to be the boring parent anymore. I’ll be the exciting aunt who has a nieces and nephews insisting upon my full attention and playtime. One day ….

Speaking of nieces and nephews – Cooper asked for a brother this weekend. Apparently having a sister is not good enough. He needs more. Unfortunately for him this factory is closed down…so I texted Grace to let her know I’d told Coop he’d just have to hold out for a boy cousin to fulfill the role of “A boy to like play with and stuff” <<his words…

Sunday we did venture out of the house to go the park – but besides that we spent the rest of the day at home. I did a crap ton of laundry and watched football on and off.

I’m looking forward to a short work week and Thanksgiving Festivities! What about you guys? Anybody put up their Christmas tree yet? 😉

Week In Review: Rhonda

Hey hey, and welcome back to a glimpse into my week.  Life has been a doozy lately with Claudia going through a phase of wanting all my attention, all the time.  I have tried to just embrace this phase of life and be thankful that I have the opportunity to watch her grow and learn and become a little lady.  Shit, it’s a challenge though.

She has been wild, dabbing and ridding her tricycle and playing Little Mama.

We did a lot of fun school lessons this week, learning about Arizona.  The kids love this state project we are working on.  Previously, they couldn’t really see past Texas or Mississippi.

Harper is absolutely obsessed with cooking and baking, so I have started to let go of a little control and let him in my beloved kitchen, mostly with free reign.  He decided to do cupcakes this week and they were delicious!  The cleanup wasn’t so fun though.

Quentin and Claudia helped me make my first roasted chicken (come back tomorrow for more about that experience) on Friday.  Then Saturday, we went to tour a possible wedding venue (now marked off the list).  In the evening, our friends came over to have drinks and dinner with us.  We had so much fun.  Lots of laughter.

On Sunday, the weather was sunny and perfect and Claudia wanted to play outside.  So we played in the driveway and ended up rolling out mats to lie down and soak up the sun.  After nap time, we went to a holiday parade.  We were so freaking late and parked a couple of miles away.  We were too late to get a good spot for viewing.  Quentin and Claudia took turns on Stuart’s shoulders.  I held Claudia on mine a little, but it was hurting with her dancing on my shoulders.  She’s a mess.  We enjoyed getting into the spirit of the season for sure!

Now onto Thanksgiving!  I can’t wait to have a good and hearty meal on Thursday and enjoy a long weekend together as a family.  AND PUT UP MY TREEEEEES!

How was your week?  Are you in total holiday mode yet?

Week In Review: Rhonda

I know, I know…I literally say this every single week.  But seriously – where did the week go?!

Monday, I did some much-needed meal planning and grocery shopping.  I also took Quentin to Target to spend his birthday money.  It is always one of my least favorite things to do, because I end up continually talking the kids out of buying shit with a million tiny pieces or stuff I know they won’t play with.  I was thankful that he actually made some good solid decisions and it was fun!

Wednesday, true to my extra self, I designed and ordered Thanksgiving Dinner invitations to send to my parents and ex-husband.  I love how they turned out (the black rectangle is actually blacking out my address, not part of the design).

The rest of the week was full of working my business, recovering from an epic Wine Wednesday (seriously, you have to show up for these live broadcasts if you aren’t already), wedding planning, and juggling mom life.

Then the glorious weekend rolled around and it was time for football, day drinking, and lots of relaxing.

We rounded out Sunday with hair cuts for all the boys (and a fake out snip for Claudia who can’t be left out of anything), which was needed in the worst way.

How was your week?  Do you watch football on the weekends?

Week In Review: Ashley

Hey there! Another week has flown by…we are getting dangerously close to Christmas and the end of the year. I’m just going to be one of THOSE people and say “I can’t believe it’s the end of year already!” I’m also going to be one of those other people and say how this whole time change thing was a real doozy this past week. I mean, I really really like that it is daylight now by the time I get up between 5:45 and 6 am. However, when it turns dark by five pm – and I look at the clock around 8 or 9 – it literally feels like I’ve just been through the longest night ever cause it’s not even close to being finished. Seriously. It really felt like the evenings were just super longggg.

Besides that? What did we do? Oh you  know – the usual. Side note alert : I really hate when I’m talking to someone I haven’t spoken to in a while, and they ask me “So! What’s new…or what have you been up to? etc.” I’m just always like – the usual. lol Like – do you want to know the nitty gritty details of what’s going on? Cause if so I do actually have a lot to say. But I mean, if you’re just wanting some huge new thing that’s happening – wellll I’ve got nothing for ya dude. Anyone else feel that way? Anyone else feel annoyed by that? I’m not saying don’t ask me how it’s going…just maybe you know – ask something more specific, because most likely you are actually curious about one thing in particular OR you don’t actually care and you’re just asking out of social politeness.

So anyway, things have been really good and relatively calm around here. Cooper is doing AMAZING at dropoff. He’s just walking into that classroom like its no big deal. He doesn’t even say goodbye. 🙁 🙁 I might have teared up in the car one day … BUT I’d much rather have no goodbye hug than leaving a distraught little boy at school.

We’ve started to really let Cooper play video games on the PlayStation. The whole thing began as a reward for keeping it together at dropoff – now he’s just freaking obsessed. I’ve had to learn to navigate turning the thing on and changing out discs which was pretty comical one night when I had to resort to Google’s help in the matter since his Dad wasn’t answering the phone. But – we’re doth doing pretty well…sometimes I’m even able to help him get past parts he can’t figure out in certain games. It’s been one of those moments where I look at him and stare in disbelief at the little boy he’s becoming. He’ll be five in four months which is so crazy. I see other parents with five year olds, and those kids just seem so much older than him…because in my mind he’s still a little baby. Gah. Excuse me while I go cry for a few minutes….

Alright – what else …what else? I feel like I’ve been doing laundry everyday all day and yet every morning the hamper is full again…what is up with that? That’s mainly what we did this weekend – chill and do chores. On Saturday, we hung out with Aunt Grace and hit up one of our local nature trails. The weather has finally been cool enough to be outside for an extended period of time without melting away! Oh and – Something monumentous that happened? I cooked breakfast on Saturday morning. I hate cooking. But I especially hate cooking in the morning. But I was craving Stuart’s Omlet and since I can’t drive to Fort Worth real quick – I had to try to do one on my own. 🙂 I did get to have dinner with my sister, brother in law, and friend Michael on Saturday night which is always always a blast. Sunday we went over to my parents. My Mom is out of town so we definitely missed her, but it was still a really nice day. And then we went home in the early afternoon to settle in and get ready for the upcoming week!

What about y’all – what have you been up to?

Week In Review: Rhonda

Another crazy-ass week in my life.  I guess this is just the norm now.

Tuesday was Halloween and we donned our costumes again and traipsed around the neighborhood.  My daughter has been continually cracked out on candy for over a week now.

Wednesday was Stuart’s birthday and even though we were saving the celebration for Saturday’s party, we did make him cards during our school time.

After a couple of days of party planning, schooling, and working my ass off on my business, it was party day!  I helped pull off an amazing surprise by keeping my mouth shut and not telling Stuart that his sister was driving from Mississippi for the party.

Quentin and Stuart shared a party and they wouldn’t have had it any other way.  It was a YouTube theme, per Quentin’s request.  We kept it simple and it was perfect.

Sunday, we recuperated from another crazy party and just spent a lot of time as a family.

What’s been going on in your life?

Week In Review: Ashley

Hey hey..what’s up you guys?! Yet another week has flown by and here we are back for some more week in review blog posts! Let’s get into it and see what we’ve been up to.

Tuesday was Halloween – So, after work I met up with Shaun and the kids at his parents house to get ready for Trick or Treating in Downtown, OS. This has been are tradition since Cooper was born. I like it because there’s guaranteed candy for the kids, and I don’t have to escort them while knocking on strangers’ doors. Because – for real – approaching strangers for anything is the absolute last thing I want to do. The Trick or Treating situation downtown is that local business owners (and maybe just non business owners who want to participate .. .I’m not positive ) line the sidewalks of downtown Ocean Springs, armed with buckets of candy to give out to the children. The parents and children all get in line and casually walk down the sidewalks collecting the candy. The Ocean Springs High school Drama Club was also there doing some dancing to Thriller which was entertaining. Sophie was very impressed, we had to hold her back from running up and participating alongside them. lol  We got there 20 minutes early so we did have to kill some time just standing in line – with a 4 & 2 yr old. So, you know that part was a BLAST. 😉 Actually, we suffered for a hot five minutes before I decided to give in and follow the kids around while they did some exploring, and Shaun stayed back to hold our spot in line. We collected candy for an hour which was when Cooper started saying he was ready to go home. So we just hopped out of line and made our way back to the car.

Wednesday,  Thursday  and Friday were all the same same around these parts: work & school stuff. Ok – well that’s not true. Wednesday I was off work. Sophie and I snagged Aunt Grace for a couple hours of Target + Chick Fil A + Beach/Park time. It was the perfect weather for being outside! That afternoon when I picked Coop up from school he randomly requested the trampoline park and since he’s been doing so well at school I decided .. why not!? So we got drinks, socks, and a change of clothes before making our way to the Mullet Hop. The kids had a blast, and they were both super tired that night which was a major parent win win. 🙂 🙂

Friday night I let the kids stay up an extra hour. I never do that. I am like a bedtime/bath time routine sticker. We don’t waiver. We do the same routine every night at the same time. It works well for us – and I generally get a solid two hours of uninterrupted me time after they are in bed. Anywaaay – So Friday night I was feeling generous. Sophie didn’t seem to notice, but Cooper LOVED having more time to play video games which are his new obsession.

We actually spent a ton of time at our own house this weekend. We only went over to my parents for a couple of hours. It was nice and exhausting to have all that solid just me and the kids time. I got sooo many things done that I’d been meaning to. I’m in the process of cleaning out my makeup collection, so I took lots of pictures and listed things online for sale. I decided to try my hand at selling some gently used clothing as well – so I took pictures of that stuff on Sunday. I cleaned my car, we went to the park, we made a Walmart AND Target trip and I of course did tons cleaning around the house. And so by nine pm I was in the bed.

What were you guys up to this past weekend? How was your Halloween?

Week In Review: Rhonda

It’s a lovely day to recap a lovely week!  I had such a fun-filled, busy week and party-licious weekend.  Let’s get to it!

On Monday, we did Art class for school, learning about how to use the color wheel to mix paints into a blood red shade, perfect for making handprints on the windows and mirrors.

We had such a crazy jam-packed week.  Workouts, school, Halloween party planning and decorating.

Friday, I packaged up orders, ran more errands, then came home to enjoy some time with my latest Baths and Bliss order.  I can’t get enough of these high quality, handcrafted products!

Then.  Then it was the weekend and holy moly was it wild!  We had our first annual Halloween party that evening, after making a booze run.

We throw a lot of parties, but this one was by far my favorite.  We had a wonderful turnout and the food got destroyed, which tickled me beyond anything you can imagine.  There is nothing worse than pouring your time and money into a party and nobody showing up or nobody really eating.  I will be posting party details another day!

I absolutely drank so much that night and felt every bit of it for most of Sunday.  I got better just in time to head to the wedding of one of Stuart’s coworkers.  The wedding was absolutely lovely and the bride stunning.  We had a good meal, plenty of drinks, and so much fun dancing with our friends.

I can’t imagine a better weekend!

Did you get into any Halloween festivities this weekend?

Week In Review: Ashley

Haaaaay guys! So glad to have y’all here for another look into exactly what we’ve been getting into this past week. 🙂

I can’t remember exactly what day it was, but at some point early in the week I realized that I should probably go get Cooper’s Halloween costume from the store. I hadn’t yet bought it because he kept saying that he wanted to be there when it was purchased. Then, the time would come when we had an opportunity to go to the store and he’d rather just go home. So, while I’ve had Sophie’s costume for a while now  – here we were the week before Halloween and Coop was still costumeless.

SO ANYWAY – I took my butt to Walmart…and then Target…and left empty handed. He specifically asked to be a Red Power Ranger. Walmart only had black, and Target only had really small ones or really big ones. I mean. Can we just all simultaneously lift our emoji praise hands toward the Amazon Prime Gods. Cause seriously. How would I even get through life without them?? I have. no. clue. So yeah, Amazon Prime came through with the correctly sized red power ranger costume.  Oh. And also a HUGE shoutout to Grammy for adjusting the length of the pants on the costume…there’s not an option for ‘short’ when you are ordering Halloween costumes. The lesson here? You can always count on Amazon Prime and Grammy in a moment of costume crisis…ok, well ANY moment of crisis. 🙂 😉

Wednesday was my day off from work. We did the usual drill that day. Took Coop to school, got coffee, came home did some chores, and met up with Aunt Grace for a little retail therapy. We also knocked out one of our Fall/Winter Bucket List items – did a little decorating that included having the kids paint. Cooper was disinterested after about five minutes in and went back to his room. Sophie LOVED it. She loved it so much that there was paint every where. A bath was necessary for cleanup. Even I had to change clothes. Cause you know, if your kid has something on their hands they will inevitably touch you. That night was Wine Wednesday Live on our Facebook Page which was a blast, as always. We did stay on for a record breaking time of over three hours!!! Sooo it was way after 12 when I went to bed…I’m sure later for Rhonda who is much more of a night owl than me.  Allll the regret and coffee was had by both of us the next morning. lol It was worth it though. 🙂

This weekend was super chill. I slept a ton. I’m talking at least ten hours on Friday and Saturday night which was pretty dang glorious. Pre-motherhood I slept a lot. I’m not one of those people who can function well on just a few hours of sleep. Besides sleeping, I spent a lot of time with my family over at my parents’ house. Grace and I braved Party City on Saturday afternoon which was a complete cluster. We were saying that we can’t even imagine the craziness that will go down there on Monday and Tuesday (the last two days before Halloween). We also made a random stop at Barnes and Noble where we talked each other into finally getting a bullet journal. We’re really good at talking each other into things…or validating our decisions and/or seemingly frivolous purchases to each other. 😉

Sunday we were all back at my parents to watch the Saints play (and win!) and celebrate my Dad’s upcoming birthday. His actually birthday is on Halloween. I ended the night with a quick trip to Michael’s with my partner in bullet journal crime, Grace, for some bullet journaling markers and then a round of speed grocery shopping through Walmart.

What have you guys been up to? Are you prepared for Halloween?
