Don’t Hide My Packages, Thanks

Recently, there was a story making rounds on Facebook about an Amazon delivery driver.  He happened upon a home with a “Please Hide Packages From Husband” doormat.  He noticed it and proceeded to do just that – hide the package.  The homeowner’s doorbell camera captured it on video and it was shared repeatedly.  My friends hailed him as a hero.  Not all heroes wear capes and shit.

For a couple of years now, I had been seeing boutiques telling customers to let them know if they need a “congrats for winning!” sticker on their paid orders.

There’s also been variations on the offer to provide a receipt that matches what your partner thinks you paid for an item.

Brilliant, people say.  Is it?

Is it brilliant to encourage people to lie about or hide financial decisions from their partner?  Sure, you’ll get business from someone who needs that service or just appreciates the humor.  This just isn’t how I operate my business.

It’s not uncommon for me to make a purchase quietly and without fanfare and just hope Stuart doesn’t notice.  Although he wouldn’t care if he did notice, I am conditioned from my first marriage that I will be in trouble for spending money.  That marriage didn’t work for many reasons, our financial interactions being one of them.  Lessons learned the hard way.

I realize that these things are just a joke for most of these businesses and homeowners – a little “wink wink.”  It really just isn’t funny to me because of the culture it breeds.  Finances may not be fun to discuss, but having open and honest communication about money stuff is crucial to not only financial security, but to the health of a relationship.

On top of that, if we could stop perpetuating the stereotype that women are shopaholics and men are trying tame their women, that would be great.

What’s In My Online Shopping Cart

So, the truth is I’m always shopping. I am always always looking for things I need/want/got to have RIGHT NOW. I like online shopping, storefront shopping, window shopping, shopping for other people…whatever – I love it all. I feel like lately, I’ve stumbled across some cute things that I’d share with you guys.

Online Shopping has got to be one of my most favorite ways to shop. I actually used to always be in the camp of not caring for online shopping, because I’m a “I want to touch it and feel it and hold it, in person” type of gal. However, motherhood and adulthood have really put a damper on the ease of just going out at any time to do some uninterrupted shopping. Have you tried navigating Target with a two and four year old lately? Unless you stuff them full of juice, chocolate milk, and popcorn which truthfully will only buy you about 30 minutes – trying to enjoy Target is just really a fruitless endeavor. And even if you aren’t  a parent – all that adulting and responsibility can still hinder your free range shopping plans. So yeah, as a result I have grown to love and look forward to hours of perusing my favorite online shopping outlets. It’s convenient and you have the world at your fingertips!

What have I been digging lately?

  1. MEMEBOX Disco Daze Gift Set – $29.99
  2. Show Me Your KITTIES Mug – $11.75
  3. Unicorn Face With Gold Glitter Horn Set Of 2 Mug And Stemless Wine Glass – $19.50

  4. Full Moon Wall Tapestry – $35.19
  5. UGG Cozy Cable Knit Slippers – $79.97-$120.00
  6. Elizabeth and West Fashion House: Moto Leggings – $44.00
  7. Airtight Cold Brew Iced Coffee Maker and Tea Infuser with Spout – $35.99

  8. Cat Socks – $17.99
  9. Tan Leather Couch – $2999.00
  10. Does this Coffee make me look Alive T-Shirt – $32.00

What have you guys been shopping around for lately?

Amazon Subscribe and Save

Hey you guys! Hope the beginning of your week is going fabulously, and I’m super glad you decided to come check us out today! Sooo as you can tell from my title I’m going to be talking about Amazon’s Subscribe and Save feature that they offer. What IS Subscribe and Save??

So basically I use Amazon S&S to stock our household with all those necessities that I buy month after month. Why use Amazon S&S? Well.. First of all I get a discount on the items. When I set up my monthly subscriptions, I made sure to scour WalMart and Target and make sure that they didn’t have cheaper deals. Secondly, it just makes things easier. I can set up these monthly deliveries and not have to think about remembering those things in addition to the MILLION other things I buy when I’m at WalMart or Target. Amazon sends me an email each month reminding me of what I have coming and let’s me know the deadline for updating my order. Most months – I don’t even touch it…or think about it for that matter. I have done a little overhauling lately BUT that was the first time in months that I’d had to.

If you are an Amazon Prime Member and use their S&S service you automatically save 20% on all diapers and pull-ups. This savings was the main reason I started using the S&S service. For a while, I had two littles in diapers/pull-ups. That gets expensive…so any little bit of savings is appreciated.

When you have four or more subscriptions coming to your house in one month (i.e. five items) you save an additional 5% on each item. If you increase your monthly delivery to five items, you will save 15% on each item. You may think you wouldn’t need that many items delivered each month, but I’m telling you…I reach the five amount several months..with ease. There honestly hasn’t been something I wanted to add to my subscription that the Amazon S&S Store didn’t have. So yeah. Basically…you need to look into this service. 🙂

Ok now …what am I ordering every month??

Those are the next four months of my S&S orders. You can see visually see the frequency…but let’s chat about that for a bit.

  1. Cottonelle Toilet Paper – 36 ct (I order two  of these) each month
  2. Mrs. Meyer’s Liquie Hand Soap (Lavendar Scent) – This is actually a new addition. I have it set to every month right now, but I may change it to every other. We shall see!
  3. Amazon Elements Baby Wipes – 720 ct I have this set for every other month. Obviously I use these for wiping butts … however I always end up finding all kinds of other various reasons to whip them out on the daily. 😉
  4. Pull Ups – These are for Soso. I get a 74 ct box each month.
  5. Opti Free Contact Solution – I get one pack of two 10 oz bottles each month. I used to just do every other month, but I found that I was continually running out…so I increased the frequency.
  6. Palmolive Dish Soap – I get a 2 pack of 38 fl oz bottles each month. This frequency works well for us, because we don’t have a dishwasher so we was use a crap ton of dish soap! (You don’t see it on my May order because it is currently unavailable so Amazon temporarily stopped the delivery…as soon as they get it in stock they ship it out at no extra cost.)
  7. Scotch Brite Sponges – I get an 18 ct pack every five months which has worked out well so far!

And that’s it you guys. These are the things I have on rotation currently, but one of the greatest things about S&S is the flexibility with which you have to change and move things around. The offer a suggested frequency with which to order things…which is what I did and then tweeked things in the beginning as I learned how much we used of each product.

Thanks for reading along! And thank you Whimsical September for the inspiration for this post! What about y’all…do you use Amazon S&S or some other form of bulk purchasing for your necessities?
