November Ipsy Reveal

Thanks for coming back to see what we got in our bags this month.  We described Ipsy to you last month:

What is ipsy? It is a monthly subscription service. You pay ten dollars a month and get a cute bag and five makeup/beauty related products. They are usually deluxe sample sized – sometimes you get a full sized product. When you sign up you do a little ‘get to know you’ type of survey that the ipsy peeps use to determine what types of products to send you. Also, as you receive the products each month you get to review each one individually. If ipsy sends you something you absolutely hate…all you have to do is let them know in the review and they won’t send it again. For instance, say you get some nail polish in your first bag, and you don’t really care for nail polish. Let them know in the review that you’d like to not receive it again. And voila! They won’t send it in your bag anymore!

We both look forward, with great anticipation, each month to receiving our ipsy bags. Ipsy is a great way to try out all kinds of different beauty brands and products without investing in the full size version – not knowing if you will like it or not. You don’t get to hand pick what comes in your bag, but we are pretty sure that there won’t be many times that you regret trying what they send you. 😉

Ipsy rewards you points for referrals, purchasing through their website, and reviewing.  The points can be redeemed in the rewards shop toward products.

You can sign up to receive Ipsy by clicking here (we may receive credit if you sign up). Ok ! On to this month’s goodies:

Also – just an FYI, we have an exciting announcement at the end of this post so make sure you stick around for the whole thing. 😉

Ashley –

TOO FACED Hangover 3-in-1 Replenishing Primer and Setting Spray-

‘TINI BEAUTY Barfly Highlighter in Candlelit

CROWN BRUSH  C141 Small Chisel Brush – So, this is literally the only thing I’ve used from my Ipsy bag…and as always I freaking love a brush. This particular brush is bomb. The bristles are perfectly dense and soft. I use it for applying contour and it blends my product like a dream.

NAKED COSMETICS  Mother Nature #06 –

TARTE  Deluxe Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Feisty –

Rhonda –

I am lowkey obsessed with how pretty this bag is.  Pictures truly do not do it justice.  This is one of the few ipsy bags I would actually use as a clutch.

Glamour Dolls x Lisa Frank Bitten & Bronzed Matte Bronzer – This will be a great matte bronzer for lighter skin tones.

TARTE Deluxe Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Feisty – As I’ve said many times before, I love everything Tarte.  I have had this blush in another shade and it’s super pigmented and blendable.

COLOURPOP COSMETICS Pressed Powder Shadow in Come and Get It or Paper Tiger – I have several of CP’s pressed powders and they are just lovely.  For the price, you can’t beat the blendability.

MANNA KADAR COSMETICS HD Perfecting Powder

CLARK’S BOTANICALS Deep Moisture Mask – I am a sucker for a moisture mask and this one felt completely decadent on my face!  While I do prefer one that I can sleep in instead of rinsing off, I loved this.

I got these adorable pins with some of my points.  I collect pins so I knew I had to get these!

Ashley –

Let me first say that I’m really pleased with my bag this time around. I’ve literally been using the items I received every single day since I opened the package. For about a week straight now. For me, that’s worth my ten dollars – more than worth ten dollars actually. 🙂

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion : This eyeliner is great. The pigmentation is on point, and I am pleased with the staying power. The liner lasts about four solid hours on my water line which is better than most eyeliners I’ve tried. It glides on easily and stands out with just one swipe. It is also really easy to blend out for a more smokey eye look. I’m fairly confident that I’ll be picking this one up in brown soon.

Tarte deluxe lights, camera, lashes™ 4-in-1 mascara :  This is a great everyday mascara. I like it. I’m not IN LOVE with it but I was not disappointed in the coverage and lasting wear – I just usually like a mascara that offers a move voluminous look.

Hanalei Papaya Enzyme Powder Cleanser : This cleanser claims to be an ultra gentle exfoliator and I 100% agree with that claim. You just pour a dime sized amount of powder into your palm, mix with a few drops of water, and then massage it all over your face. The powder particles exfoliate your skin, but they eventually all dissolve away which is a major plus for me. I hate cleansers with exfoliating beads that are hard to remove completely from your face during rinsing.

Dirty Little Secret Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Bronzed : To be honest, I was not excited about receiving this shadow. I didn’t need another bronze eye shadow shade – I have a billion. BUT when I swatched and wore this shadow it read more army green. I don’t know if that’s because of my skin tone or if it was actually mislabeled? Either way – I adore it. I’ve worn it several times and can’t get enough. It blends like a dream and is uber pigmented.

Firma Beauty 201 Tall Blender Brush : What can I say? Another brush from Ipsy = another love story. This brush is soft and the bristles are just the right length. I like that the bristles are a little bit of an oval shape rather than a circle, because it allows for more control when doing precise deep crease blending.

Rhonda –

I love love love the design of this bag!  It has a subtle lace brocade and a pretty little bat zipper pull.  It really had good contents, but I won’t be actually trying all of them.  I have decided that November will be my last ipsy bag.  It’s not because I don’t love ipsy, because I totally DO.  However, I work for a skincare and cosmetics brand and am in the process of switching to all their products.  Instead, I’ll take the $10 I spend on the subscription to buy a new brush every month, since that’s my favorite thing anyway!

tarte deluxe lights, camera, lashes™ 4-in-1 mascara – I have previously tried this mascara and as much as I am a fan of all things tarte, this one really misses the mark for me.  I didn’t feel like it did much of anything for my lashes.

Dirty Little Secret Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Bronzed – I didn’t open this because I want to be able to sell it since I won’t be using it.  I was tempted though because I love this deep bronze hue!  However, Ashley gave more info on this product in her reveal.

JM Solution Water Luminous Jelly Cleanser – I’m already on a skincare regimen and not introducing new products, but the description of it makes it sound lovely and refreshing.  I love products with hyaluronic acid!

MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation – I would have flipped out over receiving this foundation, because I’ve heard such good things.  However, I once again am just needing to transition to all one brand.  I did swatch it though because I am going to keep it and try it until I order foundation from my company.  When I swatched, I was impressed with the coverage for what is supposed to be a more sheer and natural look.  It doesn’t feel gross and heavy either.

Firma Beauty 201 Tall Blender Brush – Another month, another brush.  And I am not complaining!  I can’t get enough brushes in my life.  The bristles on this one are so soft and have a perfect shape for really defining the crease.

Have you enjoyed your October ipsy?  Have you tried any of the products we received?

Ashley –

When I saw what I was getting in my bag, I wasn’t super excited. TBH I was coveting Rhonda’s bag…however I’m overall pleased with the products I received and will continue to use most of them on a regular basis.

CATRICE COSMETICS Highlighting Powder in Champagne Campaign –  I am always excited to get a highlighter in my Ipsy bag. I am not overly impressed with this one though. It is very subdued and natural looking.  I don’t know if I will reach for it a lot. Cause you know: #extra The product description says that it has a vanilla scent and can sometimes have a pinky hue to it. I honestly never noticed either one of those qualities.

Air Repair Skincare Super-Hydrating Eye Cream – Skin care products are things that you have to use repeatedly over time to really see (or not see) the difference they make. So far I like this eye cream because I love skincare products and it doesn’t have any immediate off putting qualities (like smell or something).  I will definitely continue to use it.

EYEKO Black Magic Mascara Deluxe – Y’all. I was not expecting this BUT I’m in love with this mascara. It doesn’t give over the top volume, but it’s not so natural looking that you don’t appear to have mascara on at all. Today I layered it with my Dior (Diorshow Iconic Overcurl  mascara and was able to achieve more significant volume. Anyway, I’m going to purchase the full size of the mascara. Hands down my fave part of this bag AND I even got a brush this time…

SLMissGlam T35 Precise Blending Brush – This is my second SLMissGlam  brush that I’ve received through Ipsy. I am always satisfied with the brushes I receive through Ipsy and this was no exception. It’s a smaller blending brush that is great for more precise blending directly in the crease.

Paula Dorf Cosmetics Mini Universal Brow Pencil in Taupe – I really like this brow pencil. I can’t imagine that it would actually be a universal shade though. It has very strong red hues when I use it which is fine for me because I have red in my hair….I can’t see how this would also look good on someone with black or blonde or basic brown hair… you know? Anyway, I think the color is perfect for me. The product is super soft – I had to sharpen it after using it three times.

Rhonda –

I was so pumped when I saw what I was getting in my bag, and then was immediately disappointed by the item I was most excited by. However, ipsy had 3 varieties of the zip bag this month and I got the one I wanted!

Let’s check it.

Lovely, right?!

Vitamasques Yoghurt Mask Duo – I love masks so I was pretty excited about getting a 2-pack this month.  I tried the Kiwi and it smelled AMAZING, like edible.  While I soaked in the tub with the mask on, my face got really HOT, so I decided to look at the ingredients.  Well holy shit, I don’t even know what most of that stuff is, but I don’t think I will be using these again.  Not even opening the strawberry.

AURORA Pro Cover Up Concealer in Balmy Beige – I am a concealer freak and could not wait to try this.  I was so disappointed in it.  The shade was a good match for me, but it didn’t not blend or cover well.  Once dry, it creased under my eyes and was crumbly.  I tried it on a couple blemishes and that wasn’t a success either.  Just terrible.

SLMissGlam T35 Precise Blending Brush – This was my second brush from this brand and I can’t get enough!  It is so soft and did a bang-up job blending my crease.

Pacifica Coconut Blush Duo – God, I can not say enough good things about their cheek products.  Every time I get one, it blows my mind.  I did BOTH cheeks with ONE swipe of the rosy color.  These are silky, pigmented, and a dream to apply.  And bonus?  The bottom of the compact is MIRRORED!  This will be my go-to travel blush for sure.

theBalm Voyage Vol. 2 Eyeshadow in Kuwakaribisha – This highlighter blew me away.  I am never impressed with highlighters anymore, but it gave me a gorgeous glow!  theBalm is such a great brand.

Here you see Pacifica and theBalm’s cheek products in use.  I was nervous when I swatched because they barely showed on my arm.  My face was a different story!

Did y’all get you some ipsy action this month?  What did we get in our bags that you would love to try?  One commenter will receive my strawberry mask!  Just because it didn’t work for my old sensitive skin doesn’t mean it won’t work for you.

Ashley –

Soooo the eye shadow below didn’t make the group shot. She was running late because she had too much wine the night before. Lateness is not tolerated around these parts – so we took the group shot without her. 😉 JK I’m actually a space cadet and forgot I’d gotten an extra item in my bag this time.

Jelly Pong Pong Super Intense Super Charged Eye Shadow – I got this extra item in my bag because I redeemed my points to get it. I’ve tested out these shadows and have no complaints. I’m not super wowed by them or anything – but they have a good pigment quality and are lasted all day on my eyes. They’re definitely very me shades. I mean. I’m just glad they weren’t loose pigments.

Hey Honey Besemame Mucho –  I always love a new moisturizer or lip moisturizing product. Because : Dry AF skin over here. I liked this product. I stuck it in my purse and it has become my go to thirsty lip quincher. It works well. Keeps my lips hydrated and very kissable, which is apparently a claim. I agree with that.

Briogeo Rosarco (heat proctectant) – TBH I haven’t had the chance to try this yet. I’ll update you guys on snapchap though. 🙂 🙂

Luxie Dreamcatcher Precision Foundation Brush – I’m never disappointed by the Luxie brushes I receive in my Ipsy bags. This one was no exception. The bristles are super soft. And per Rhonda’s suggestion, I used this brush to highlight with (instead of for foundation – because I think it’s too small for that) and it worked like a charm!

Pixie by Petra Endless Silky Eye Pen in Black Noir –  I was happy to get this in my bag, because I had recently contemplated trying a Pixie eyeliner. I was prepared to not be impressed by it BUT I was so wrong. It’s genuinely very silky. One swipe and it’s intense on your water line. It also help up really well throughout the day. Dare I say  – even better than my holy grail IT Cosmetics liner. We shall see though. Sometimes first impressions are wrong. 😉

Urban Decay Afterglow in Sin – Love the name of this highlighter. Do I love the highlighter? Noooot really. I wasn’t super impressed. It’s not really intense at all on the face..and when you swipe it with your finger to swatch..it feels very chalky.

Rhonda –

Let me start by saying, the ice cream design on this bag is so cute and I love the splash-proof factor, making it great for dropping into my water park tote.  However, mine seems to have a faulty zipper and while I don’t expect much for the price, that was disappointing and first for me with ipsy.  Anyway, on to the products.

Royal & Langnickel Precision Angled Brush – I am always beyond tickled to get a brush in my bag, since I am a bit of a collector.  I used this brush to contour my nose and it did not disappoint.  The (100% vegan!) bristles are super soft and it blended so well.  The construction is of the best quality and so I clicked over to their website through ipsy to see how much these cost.  I was so shocked to see they are totally affordable!  I will definitely be buying some of their brushes.  And just a hot tip for you – when you sign up with ipsy, you get access to coupon codes for the brands they feature!

Mellow Cosmetics Creamy Matte Lipstick in Nude– Dang, this one shocked me.  The shade “nude” always turns me off because with someone with darker lips I don’t wear typical nudes well.  This nude though was a little darker and had a rosy tone to it that is just beautiful!  It swatched super creamy and I look forward to trying it on my lips.  It feels like it is moisturizing and not at all drying.

Urban Decay Afterglow in Sin – This wasn’t my first time trying this product.  As a former Ulta employee, I have used just about every product in the store.  It has never been my favorite.  It’s fine for a more subtle highlight, but I like to be LIT UP.  The texture is a little chalky too, which I’m not a fan of.  I do sometimes like it set bolder, creamier highlight with it.

City Color Bold Brow Eyebrow Powder in Medium – I was not excited to receive this, because I am happy with my brow routine and have never liked the idea of powders.  Well, I was wrong to not be excited.  I love my brow mousse that I use daily, but it does take a little time to get my brow perfectly defined and sometimes I wish I had something to quickly do a natural brow, for when I’m not doing much makeup.  Oh, well here it is.  Thanks, ipsy.  I used the two shades together and my brow was filled in, literally, a minute.  The look was natural and the included brush means I may just pop this into my purse and leave it there for when I am out without makeup and have a moment to do my brow.

VASANTI Cosmetics Brighten Up! Enzymatic Face RejuvenatorExfoliating Cleanser – I was happy to receive this, but to be honest, it was only because I had just run out of the cleanser for my old skincare routine and had not purchased anything new.  I had been digging around in my sample and travel size basket, using what I could find.  I just needed a cleanser.  But BOOM!  I used this one and loved it.  The super fine exfoliating particles didn’t scratch my face and I could seriously tell a difference after just two uses.  My face definitely is less dull with this product and it didn’t dry my skin. I just might purchase when I run out!

April Ipsy Reveal

Hey y’all hey…we got our April Ipsy bags…and you know what that means! It’s time to reveal the goods…

Ashley –

Soooo, this is my bag. 🙂 This is definitely my most favorite Ipsy bag yet. There was only one disappointing product which let’s just start with that one….get the bad out of the way. 😉

Naked Cosmetics Heavy Metal #04 – This is a pigment and is the second one that I’ve received from Ipsy. I did try to use the first one that I got, but it’s just too messy. I tried using it as an eyeshadow. Ipsy says that you can use these pigments as an eyeshadow, liner, lipstick, or even a nail polish. To be real here – I’m just not on that level yet. No thanks. So yeah. This is the only product I was not psyched to receive.

Glamour Dolls X Lisa Frank Angled Blush Brush – Okay, to be honest, I tested this brush out as a bronzer/contour brush. It looks like a bronzer/contour brush right?? Anyway, that’s how I tested it out. First of all, this is a LISA FRANK MAKEUP BRUSH. That fact alone. All the freaking heart eyes. Alright – is it practical though? Eh. It seemed to soak up the product more than it applied it. However, I will continue to test it out with other products and update you guys – probably through SnapChat. So follow us: RAtheMOMachine

Eau Thermale Avene Rich Compensating Cream – I used this on my face for my night time moisturizer last night, and I used it to moisturize my hands tonight. It performed well. It’s a light feeling moisturizer. It didn’t blow my socks off or anything, BUT I always appreciate a new moisturizer…because I have lizard skin. For real.

touch in SOL No Poreblem! Primer – I’ve only used this primer once … sooo.. I don’t feel like I can give an absolute and final review on it BUT I enjoyed it. It’s a lightweight primer. It doesn’t leave a tacky feeling on your skin, but it’s not super smoothing like Benefit’s Porefessional (which is my current FAVE primer). I was happy with it, but I’ll continue to test it and update you guys on SC. 🙂

Ciate London Mini Bamboo Bronzer – Yes. This is a bronzer. I know. It is super light. I’m super pale though so I appreciate it. I also really love the neutral undertones. I have a ton of red/pink undertones in my skin…so I really appreciate a bronzer that doesn’t accentuate those undertones and just make me look sunburned. Anyway, I really like this bronzer. I feel like it’s very natural looking on my skin, and it reminds me of the Hoola Lite Benefit Bronzer.

Rhonda-

This bag design though.  So cute!  It is among my favorites for sure.  The material is really sturdy too!  Overall, I didn’t love this month, especially after seeing some of the things my friends got (*cough*AshleyandherLisaFrank*cough*).

Hanalei Aloe Soothing Gel – I have not tried this yet, considering I have not been in the sun.  I am going to the beach in two weeks though and this is the perfect size for travel.  I have the lip treatment from this brand and it is amaze, so I have high expectations for this one.

Meg Twin Nail Polish in Lovey Dovey – I don’t paint my fingernails much, because I do press-ons.  I have a huge polish collection and didn’t really need more polish for painting my toes, but this was so damn cute and such great shades, that I couldn’t be mad at it.  The blue-grey shade is everything.  I look forward to seeing how this applies and holds up.

Elizabeth Mott Show Me Your Glow Shimmer Shadow & Highlighter – Another day, another highlighter.  Can you really have too much highlight though?  A single swipe didn’t give much shine, but it seems really buildable and I love that it has actual flecks of glitter in it.  I think I will really love it layered over some of my other highlighters.  And bonus – cruelty free!

Ciate London Mini Bamboo Bronzer in Palm Island – My first thought when I saw I was getting this was excitement because I really like the Ciate brand and I love contours.  However, I was instantly disappointed when I swatched it.  I just don’t really use bronzers this light unless it’s a shimmer bronzer.  I like my mattes a little deeper in color.  It would be a great color for someone fair who doesn’t want everyone to notice the bronzer, if that makes sense.  I will say the formula is lovely.  Lightweight and easy to apply.  I may pass this one to my midwestern BFF, because my face will be far to dark for it this summer.

Luxie Dreamcatcher Precision Foundation Brush 660 – I’m so torn, y’all.  I puffy-heart-love Luxie brushes.  The colors, the softness of the bristles, everything.  However, I just don’t love this kind of brush for foundation.  It’s more fluffy than the really flat paintbrush style though.  I think it will make a phenomenal brush for an intense highlight.  I tried it quickly with the Elizabeth Mott highlight from above.  It worked pretty well!  I know I’ll find a use for it.  I am a huge fan of using brushes in different ways, instead of just the intended and labeled purpose.

Overall, this was a good bag for me.  Not blowing me away, but just good.

You definitely should try ipsy if you haven’t already.  $10 to dabble in new products?  Yes please! If you want to sign up for Ipsy click this link – It’s Ashley’s referral link so she will get some points if you sign up! Win win!

March ipsy Reveal

On to March’s goodies!

Rhonda-

This month’s bag itself is so pretty.  It wasn’t quite what I expected based on pictures, but it’s a nice velvety fabric and has a pretty rose gold zipper. You’ll see I got 6 items.  I bought one of them with my points.

OFRA cosmetics peach blush – I have received several OFRA products in the time I have been with ipsy.  I have loved every one.  They have the best sheen and pigmentation and this one is no different.  You get a great natural flush with a sheen with a single swipe (see top swatch above).  The blush is perfectly buildable so you can add on the color.

EYEKO fat eye stick in Satin – This creamy crayon twists up and gives such amazing coverage.  One swipe gives all the pigment you need.  It will be great alone or with a powdered shadow over.  It can be applied without a brush if you’re the type to just want a quick, no-fuss, touch of color on your lids.  This Satin color will look good on everyone (see bottom swatch above).

Elizabeth Mott blending brush – The first thing that struck me about this brush is the coloring.  I love the minty handle and the rose gold accents.  Right up my alley.  I love Elizabeth Mott products and this did not disappoint.  The synthetic bristles are perfect for blending out creamy products without wasting any.  It seems high quality and well made.  I can’t see it shedding.

Styli-Style pressed pigment in liquid gold – This is what I bought with my points.  I had kind of low expectations because I had never heard of this brand.  Holy smokes, it was definitely the stand-out of my bag!  The antique gold hue gave amazing coverage with ONE SWIPE (see middle swatch above).  I literally gasped when I tried it on my eyes.  Truly amazing.  Blendable and highly pigmented.

Marula Pure Beauty Oil, Pure Marula facial oil – I haven’t used this on my face yet, but I am a big fan of facial oils in general.  I swiped some onto my wrist.  It feels nice, soaked into my dry skin, and smells great without being strong.

Cake Desserted Island supreme body mousse – Holy heavens, this stuff was like some decadent frosting on my dry ass skin.  It smells AMAZING and feels great.  I hate for body creams to leave a residue and I totally forget this one is there!

Ashley –

I really like this month’s bag design. I like the color , and I like that it is able to be folded. I got six items this month as well, because I also redeemed some of my points.

Neogen Coconut Milk Cleanser – This stuff was just okay for me. It didn’t wow me, but I will for sure continue to use it until it’s gone. Will I purchase it? Probably not. The smell is pretty strong. Surprisingly it does not smell like coconut at all – it actually reminds me of Olay Bar Soap. My Mimi always only used Olay bar soap. So that was kind of nice that it reminded me of her. 🙂 However, I’m not a fan of such a strong perfumy scent when I’m trying to cleanse my face.

Skone Blending Brush – I love a new brush. And I really really love a new blending brush. Seriously. 🙂 I like this one. The bristles are way  longer than any of my other blending brushes, so that was a bit of an adjustment at first. After using it for several days – I can officially say that I’ve fallen for it. Like I said. I’m a sucker for a good blending brush. 😉

Tarteist Lip Paint in Rose I’m still on the fence about this one. I was actually super excited to know that I was receiving a Tarteist Lip Paint, because I’d been wanting to try one. I <heart> all the things Tarte that I’ve tried so far. I think I’m just not wild about the color on me. The formula was pretty typical to most liquid lipsticks that I’ve tried. It didn’t feel super heavy on my lips, but it was definitely drying.

Freematic Eye Shadow Doucce – This is the little tiny Mauvey shaded eye shadow. Eh. Honestly, I feel like Ipsy has sent me this shade (in different brands) a couple times before. It was an ok shadow. I definitely had to build the pigment up.

Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter/Crayon – I wasn’t even sure what this crayon was meant to highlight. Of course I asked Rhonda. She told me it was for my brow bone. I like it ok. I felt like a cream highlight for the brow bone would be more suited for someone who was looking for sharp defined brows. I’m not that girl. I just fill in and darken my eyebrow hairs that are naturally there. No sharp drawn on lines here.

Swatches Left to Right: Highlighter Crayon, Freematic Eyeshadow, and Styli-Style Pressed Pigment

Styli-Style Pressed Pigment in Liquid Gold – This was an extra in my bag that I got by redeeming points. Y’all. This stuff is sooo pigmented and sooo pretty. The day I wore it, Cooper complimented me. When a three year old notices your eye shadow – well that eye shadow is doing something good for ya. 😉 As you saw above – Rhonda bought this with her points as well. And we are both in love with it. 🙂

That’s it you guys! Thanks for checking out our bags. Have you signed up for Ipsy yet?? Click that link above and go do it. If you do get Ipsy, what did YOU get this month?
