Hey y’all and happy Friyay!! If you were completely unaware because maybe you haven’t seen all the PSL hype making the rounds on the internet… the first official day of Fall is today (Sept 22)! Here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast (and the south in general), we don’t get to experience any real significant changes weather wise when Fall begins. The truth is that you could most likely continue to wear your shorts and sandals well into October, but I do think it is necessary to stock your closets with a few Fall essentials for those random days that it is actually cooler out and you need to cover your legs and toes. 🙂
As an adult whose size generally stays the same (you know as long as I don’t indulge in too many sugars and grains 😉 ), I don’t have to do much to revamp my closet for the season change. My soon to be two year old is a different story though. She doesn’t fit into anything from last winter…and honestly her summer wardrobe is beginning to get too small as well. So, I decided to go ahead and look for some staples to add to her wardrobe that will get her through the cooler parts of our Southern Fall.
I had to resist the urge to grab every cute long sleeve shirt and pair of leggings. I wanted to just choose some core pieces that I can use to layer and add to her existing wardrobe which would help to transition it all to Fall, but these pieces will still be usable when we get to Winter. I chose to shop at Target, because well, duh. 😉 haha But ALSO Target is currently running a special of spend $50 on kid’s clothing and get a $10 gift card. So. Why not? Sooo anyway…enough with the blabbing – let’s get to the fun part – the CLOTHES.
Outerwear – I decided to go with some classic pieces: a jean jacket and gray cardigan. Both of these are light weight and will be great for layering with short or long sleeve tops.
Toddler Girls’ Denim Jacket – Genuine Kids® from OshKosh® Medium Wash
Toddler Girls’ Star Pointelle Cardigan – Cat & Jack™ Heather Gray
Bottoms – A good pair of jeans and black leggings should actually be a staple in anyone’s fall wardrobe. I’ll be able to mix and match these with countless types of tops in varying patterns and styles.
Toddler Girls’ Leggings Pant – Cat & Jack™ Black
Toddler Girls’ Jeggings – Cat & Jack™ Dark Blue
Shoes – Again, I felt like these are classic pieces that will coordinate and match well with so many different types of clothing, things she has now and things I plan to buy in the future.
Toddler Girls’ Jory High Top Sneakers – Cat & Jack™
Toddler Girls’ Jaydeen Riding Fashion Boots – Cat & Jack™ – Cognac
Tops – Now, this is where things got tricky for me when it came to narrowing down my picks. Sophie is continually growing and changing and I didn’t want to go crazy buying a ton of shirts that won’t fit her in two to three weeks. However, there are SO MANY cute options at Target to go through. Ultimately, I kept my impulse shopping tendencies at bay and grabbed four essential (for now) pieces. I got two long sleeve shirts that are thin enough she could wear tomorrow if I simply pushed up the sleeves, but will be great for cooler mornings. I decided to get that cute red peplum sweater because it is short sleeved so it won’t be too hot, and it’s a little dressier for when more formal occasions arise. The pink sweatshirt will be great for layering. I sized up in it for a loose fit that will work great now and in the upcoming months allow her some room to grow.
Toddler Girls’ Rib Peplum Top – Genuine Kids™ from OshKosh® Rocker Red
Toddler Girls’ Afton Street Long Sleeve T-Shirt – Ivory
Toddler Girls’ Graphic T-Shirt – Cat & Jack™ Popsicle Pink
Toddler Girls’ Long Sleeve Sweatshirts – Cat & Jack™ Cherry Cream
And that is it you guys! What was my total price? Well, a mere $131.07. So, for less than $150.00 I was able to get some great pieces that will serve as a solid core for Sophie’s Fall wardrobe. 🙂
