Week In Review: Rhonda

God, that week felt so long.  It seemed to just drag on and was exhausted the entire week.  I think I know why though, and more about that later.  So let’s recap.

Seriously, Monday through Friday were an absolute blur.  Sleepiness, exhaustion, Target runs, with Wine Wednesday up in the middle.  Also at some point during the week, I made a HUGE business decision and spent a lot of time planning for that.

I also decided during the week that the reason I have been so tired and moody and run-down is due to backsliding on my healthy lifestyle.  Since moving, things have been wild and busy and definitely unhealthy.  I decided that Monday would be a reboot.  Meal prep and workouts on their way!

Saturday we got up and got busy shopping for things for the house and putting up lights in the backyard.  We had “a few friends” over (let’s just call it what it was – a hell of a party) and Stuart set the backyard on fire.  So that was lovely.

Sunday, Stuart, Claudia, and I hopped in the car and spent the afternoon in some different areas of the DFW.  We went to the Japanese book store Kinokuniya to get my copper Leuchtturm1917 journal that I’ve wanted for a few months.  Then we went to get some Bing Su (a tasty shaved ice treat) while we were in this Asian strip mall.  After that, we headed to IKEA where Claudia promptly made herself at home.  She wanted to sit in every chair and lie down in every bed.  Stuart and I argued over chairs, because of course.  Back at home, Stuart hung more lights in the backyard and grilled and Quentin and I prepped my lunches for the week.

Now I’m ready to tackle a new week. We are starting school and I am rebooting a healthy lifestyle. Do you ever feel like you just need to start over on everything?

Week In Review: Ashley

Hey y’all hey! Welcome back to another Monday of Week In Reviews. 🙂 So glad you’re here. Ok, sooo prepare for lots of me going on and on about Pre-K drama.

Monday & Tuesday & Wednesday were pretty typical. As you know (or don’t know if you don’t regularly read my WIR posts…) we have been riding the struggle bus when it comes to getting Cooper adjusted to full day Pre-K. He has been freaking out at drop off each day. HOWEVER We had some fantastic days of drop off during the first part of this week! Cooper didn’t cry one bit which was super fantastic. I really felt like we were making some progress.

Then. His teacher called Wednesday afternoon to say that he’d been having a hard day. She said he was whining a lot and very concerned about what was going to happen next…as in he was asking her this every five minutes or so. The wanting to know what is next – well that’s just his personality. He’s super aware of his surroundings. He always wants to know the span of events that lie before him. I can understand though how that is frustrating. Because seriously you guys, some days I have to tell him “enough with the questions…I’ve already told you this over and over again.” She did suggest that maybe he needs more one on one time and attention from me. I get that. I decided I’d start making more deliberate attempts at giving him my attention in the evenings. Also, she thought maybe he was trying so hard to keep things together for my sake at drop off that the emotions were coming out throughout the day now. Thursday he was pretty upset at drop off BUT nothing major.  So that night we went to Chick-Fil-A and played at the playground and I took him to Target to pick out a toy for being so good at drop off for the four previous days.  I wanted to give him some positive reinforcement.

Friday morning was a rough rough rough. I’m pretty sure he sensed that it wasn’t a normal day. He could tell that I wasn’t going to work…we weren’t rushing like we normally do. So, about an hour before we had to leave he started getting upset and crying. I normally attempt to console him and do everything that I can to get him calmed down and not crying. However, that day I decided maybe he just needs to cry at home and get it all out of his system? So I let him go on and on. I told him it was ok to cry at home, but when we get to school he has to stop. Did that work? Hell no. He was in major freaking melt down mode once we got to school. I was crying. He was flipping out. It was bad bad bad. I actually told his teacher I was considering taking him out of school. She urged me to take him home that day and think things over, because the truth is that he’ll have to adjust now at Pre-K or later at Kindergarten.

I could tell that he was just doing all that he could in order to get to stay home with me. As soon as he realized he was going home he stopped crying and pitching a fit.

I honestly believe he has some major anxiety issues. I know part of it is that he just can’t control his anxiety and emotions. I get that. I feel for him. It’s stressful on both of us..and sometimes I make it all about me and how it makes me feel and how emotionally draining this whole process has been on me. But I have to remember that HE is the one going to school.

So. I’ve decided to implement some changes and start reinforcing routine for the morning. I don’t know how to fix his anxiety and make all of our transition problems magically go away, but I do know that he thrives in a routine. So yeah, I’m making some changes to our morning so that it will always be the same and consistent – you know as much as I can…I can’t control everything. Unfortunately. 😉 And his dad is going to start dropping him off .. I think that not having to leave me will help.  And I’m also going to do a calendar that we’ll put stickers on everyday that reflect how that day went at drop off and give him little rewards each day when he does well.

But yeah. We shall see if that all makes a difference.

This weekend? We stayed home. Took several trips to Target. Sunday afternoon we did get out for a bit to go the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center in Gulfport. If you are local, you should definitely take your children there. Sunday afternoons are a great time to go because it’s only $6 to enter. That night I made Sangria and watched the BEST Game of Thrones episode from this entire season.

There you have it. What have you guys been up to? Anyone else have some transitioning to Pre-K stories similar to mine? If so, tell me and make me feel better by saying it all worked out in the end. 😉

Week in Review: Rhonda

Thanks for showing up yet again to see what I have been up to.  We have lived through the first week in our new house and I am so pleased to watch the house coming together!  Tuesday the fridge came, which changed everything for the better.   You really get an appreciation for appliances when you have to live without them for several days.

By Thursday, we had settled into an adaptation of our usual routine…waiting out front for Stuart to come home from work, then helping him make his dinner.

I spent Friday running errands and hammering shit into the walls.  It is starting to look less like a model home and more like we live here.

We spent Saturday cleaning and unpacking the remaining boxes in preparation to have friends over.  Some of Stuart’s coworkers came over in the evening and we had some drinks and grilled.

We wrapped up a wonderful weekend by grilling again and then I soaked with a new bath bomb.  Can’t beat that for a Sunday evening!

Here’s to another week!  I hope yours was amazing.

Week In Review: Ashley

Dang. The weeks literally are flying by. I think especially having this weekly documentation … it just puts into perspective how quickly time can seem to go by. When you know. In actuality. Time passes at the same rate.

Also. I have this thing I’ve been meaning to do. Like this big life changing thing. I keep putting it off. It requires some confrontation…and well. I hate confrontation. Not to mention. Well I did mention – but it’s life changing. So anyway. My weeks are going by quickly, because I have this thing on my to do list that I keep skipping over. And another Friday gets here and I’m like damn. I still haven’t done the thing. And it’s just really making me sad. The whole thing. The thing I have to do and me not doing it…

Ok. Sooo anyway…to the things I actually did this week. 🙂

Being real here – I sucked at taking pictures. Sorry Charlies.

Wednesday was my usual off day, and it was also the first day that Cooper would be going to all day school while I was off. It felt so weird leading up to that day. It seemed so strange to be leaving him there when I could very well take care of him. But you guys know. He’s been balking at having to go to school. So, I knew the best course of action was to keep establishing an expected routine by taking him to school and leaving him there the entire day. So, I did which ended up being really nice for Sophie and I. We didn’t have to rush home to get chores finished before time for pick up at 11:45. What did we do? Well, obviously we went by Target – then we stopped by Aunt Grace’s house to visit with her and Uncle Dejan. Soso’s had this thing since…I don’t know…almost birth – that she’s been skittish around Dejan. We’ve been working on it and she actually seems to enjoy him now. Which is a big plus. No more crying and freaking out when she’s in the same room with him! 🙂 🙂

Wednesday night was Wine Wednesday on our Facebook Page. It was a lot of fun..as usual. I did have some nasty storms rolling through that night which was messing with the internet so we had to end things a little early. You should totally go watch the video if you missed it!

Friday night I had dinner with my sister, and then just went home for an early bedtime. OH! Friday morning Cooper DID NOT cry when I dropped him off at school! That was a fantastic start to our day. All the teachers were so happy to see him not upset…I talked about the whole thing on SnapChat that afternoon…soo make sure you’re following us there too! (RAtheMOMachine) We were just having such a great morning that day, and when I pulled into the school parking lot I got a pit in my stomach with dread that he may get upset. He didn’t though! It was just really a great feeling for both of us. He literally talked about it in almost every conversation I had with him for the rest of the weekend. Hopefully this trend continues!

Saturday and Sunday were pretty lazy days. I did spend a little time at my parent’s on Saturday after I sat in WalMart for FOUR hours waiting on an oil change. Four hours. Ridiculous. Cooper stayed the night with Grammy and Ppop so Sophie and I hit up Target that evening. It’s expected right? 😉 Sunday we picked up Cooper on the way home from a quick trip to Slidell to go to Toys R Us.

That evening they were both little wild heathens due to lack of naps; therefore, we started bath/bedtime about 30 minutes earlier than normal. I watched Game of Thrones and then called it a night.

Anddd that’s my week. What were you guys up to?

Week In Review: Rhonda

What a damn week.  Holy crap.  If you follow us on social media (and I mean, if you don’t, that’s ridiculous), you already know that I moved.  Well it was a hell of a move and we are still settling in and unpacking.

Because of the move, things have really blurred together and can barely remember anything that happened before moving day last week.  Tuesday, while I was getting ready to take the kids to the pool, we found out that we got the house.  It was extremely shocking, because we had so many issues with finding and being approved for something we loved.

Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday was a lot of working and preparing to move.  So much packing and it’s funny how it goes – you start out packing very organized with labels on everything….and quickly devolve into throwing shit into garbage bags.

Friday, we got the keys to the house in the evening and took the kids inside for the first time.  I was so happy to look around again, because there were lots of details I had completely forgotten.

Once we left, we went home to grill at the apartment one last time.

And then, it was Moving Day.  Holy hell.  TWENTY HOURS.  Stuart, me, and 4 crazy ass kids.

It was finally done and the unpacking and settling in commenced.

And that was my crazy-ass week.  Who else freaking HATES moving?!

Week In Review: Rhonda

Fuck, y’all….like fuuuuuuuck.  It has been a hell of a week.  You’ll see.

Monday was another day of my usual – working my ass of during the day and working while sipping adult beverages at night.  It was National Tequila Day, so I celebrated accordingly.

Tuesday, I finally met in person a friend of mine from a healthy eating group.  His granddaughter was in town and curious about LipSense and I met up with her and demoed some products.  He cooked us an amazing meal of unstuffed cabbage rolls and though I had a migraine, I thoroughly enjoyed my time there before I went home to lie down.

Wednesday, though.  For fuck’s sake.  I always liked Wednesdays.  Then this.  I woke with a start at about 7:10, which is earlier than I typically get up when the kids are home.  I was foggy and not sure of what was going on around me, but I could hear SOMETHING that just didn’t sound right.  It suddenly occurred to me that it was the sound of water…and I was alone in the apartment.  I looked around and saw water in the bathroom and at first, couldn’t tell WHERE or HOW.  I leapt up and ran and then screamed…and shrieked…cursed…and flipped the FUCK OUT.  Because everywhere, there was water.  Turns out a pipe had burst behind the cabinet.  I tried to cut off the sink water, but of course the break was on the other side of the wall.   I ran around throwing towels about with one hand and texting and calling Stuart with the other.  He came home as quickly as he could after calling the apartment complex emergency maintenance line.  Within an hour there was 2 inches of downstairs because water had begun to pour through the ceiling.  Half our bedroom carpet was sopping wet.  I had run downstairs when I realized I heard water there and screamed like something out of a movie when I saw that Elizabeth, my beautiful golden best friend (MacBook), was on the kitchen table, directly underneath the water pouring through the ceiling.  Stuart and I spend all day picking shit up off the floor, moving furniture out of the house for the workers to come handle shit, and moving furniture back.  We took the Macbook to Best Buy, who recommended we put it in rice.  Um, ok, cool.  Then we gave up on life and went on a spontaneous date to Buffalo Wild Wings.  What a fucking mess.

Thursday I took care of some errands and treated myself to some coffee, then came home to work some more and cook dinner.

I decided that after the week I had, some pool time was certainly warranted.  I spent a lot of time over there, soaking up the rays and the hot ass weather.

Saturday, we went to look at some houses with our agent and we absolutely fell in DEEP love with one in particular.  It was such a nice time planning for the future with my guy.  We invited Stuart’s coworker over for grilling and we had such a great time sipping on drinks (SOME of us got drunk) and enjoying some good eats.

Sunday, we went to get the kids after two weeks of them away.  It made for a long day, as we made some stops on the way home.  It was lovely to have them back though!  It’s never dull around here.

Week In Review: Ashley

Monday – Hmmm what did we do Monday. Just the usual. I woke up at six and started my day by getting ready. Then at about a quarter til seven the chaos of getting a four year old to dress himself and rangle a 1.5 year old began. We all survived to leave the house and head to work, school, and grandparents for the day. After all that? Well we had chores, dinner, and playing until bath/bed time. 🙂

Tuesday – I ended up being off this day instead of Wednesday. Cooper and Sophie had dentist appointments at 9 and 9:30 that morning. The dentist again? Yup. This time Cooper had a cleaning and Sophie was there for her 2 yr old check in. She turns two in September so we went ahead and got that taken care of since Cooper was there for a cleaning anyway. They both did great. I don’t know if you guys remember me telling you about Cooper falling and hitting his two front teeth a couple weeks ago? That was why were just at the dentist a couple weeks ago. Well they are both loose, but the one on the right has started to darken in color and die. So, it looks like we will have a toothless wonder soon. Otherwise, the dentist said his teeth look fantastic. 🙂

Wednesday to Friday – See Monday above for details..lol Same ole same ole. Although, Friday Cooper missed school because he was running a fever.

Saturday – We spent the day at Grammy and Ppop’s . The kids have been sick so they were a little under the weather. Plus it rained most the day…which you guys know is just my absolute favorite. Not. Cooper stayed at my parent’s house that night, while Soso came home with me. We stopped by Kohl’s on the way home to do a little shopping. Their towels were on sale plus I had coupon so I was able to get us some much needed new towels for the house. That night I cut up the old ones to use as rags. Super exciting Saturday night… 😉

Sunday – Thankfully, there was no rain! We had lunch at my sister’s house that day. Cooper had another low fever so we went home that afternoon for some rest and naps. Both kids have had a cold for about a month now that they just can’t seem to shake. I thought it was just their immune systems adjusting to Cooper being exposed to new germs from school. However, I’m now thinking there may be more going on. Anyway, we shall see when we go to the doctor. 🙂 I ended the night with Game of Thrones and an early bed time.

Hope you guys had a fantastic week and weekend! What were y’all up to?

Week In Review: Rhonda

I kicked the week off by working my ass off, as I tend to do.  My day ended on a high note when I was able to welcome my best friend to my team!  I am so excited to build our beauty empires together!

Tuesday, I worked and shopped….and shopped some more.  AND added another team member!  Target has some super cute shit right now, by the way…not that anybody would be at all surprised by that.  Now I am looking at this and wondering why I didn’t buy any of it.

After some shopping and errands on Wednesday, I enjoyed the late afternoon early evening hours at the pool with a drink.  Then Ashley and I did our weekly Wine Wednesday LIVE – together this time!  If you aren’t joining those, you better go follow our Facebook page and get on it.  It’s a great time.

I started Thursday by getting some blogging done at Starbucks before heading home for another hot as fuck afternoon by the pool.  Can’t complain about any of that for sure!  I am literally soaking up these easy days while my kids are out of town!

Friday morning, I went to Target for a mommy juice box and a new raft.  I then spent the rest of the day at the pool.  Triple digits can’t keep me out of the sun.

We started our lovely weekend by going to an open house for a rental we are interested in.  Then we went to Legal Draft Brewing Company’s 1st anniversary bash.  That Impeachment IPA is to die for.  I had some yummy food truck food but unfortunately got really overheated and had to go home and lie down in front of a fan.  Once I got up, I sipped wine while we grilled.

After a Sunday morning of relaxing and coloring, Stuart went to work and I went to….yep, the pool.  He joined me after work and eventually we left and …..yep, grilled.

I’m not even a little bit sorry about how predictable our weekends are.  Do you have a weekend routine?

Week In Review – Rhonda

Welcome back to another week of posts! We are SO grateful that you just keep coming back.  If this is your first time here, welcome! Be sure to look back at some fun posts we have done.

Getting the week off to a good start, I got groceries, shipped a bunch of orders, and dropped books at the library.  Nothing starts a Monday off well for me like checking off boxes!

I was home for most of Tuesday, photographing and listing makeup to sell and just generally working my ass off.

I had so much to do on Wednesday, so I took some kids with me and we made a day of it, stopping at Starbucks, the post office, and Target.  I feel like involving kids in what it takes for me to run a business and a household is really important.

Thursday was spent running more errands and doing the usual Boss Babe shit like taking product pictures on the patio with my sidekick.

Friday was just more of working, along with cleaning the house and getting the kids ready to go to their dad’s for two weeks.  Stuart came home and grilled at 10 pm.  You can’t keep that man from grilling on the weekends.

Saturday started out with makeup and a mimosa, then off to take the kids to their dad.  We hit up Starbucks on the way home, then back to the DFW to relax and grill.

Sunday, while the rest of the country was getting all amped up about Game of Thrones, Stuart and I had a full day of adventure.  After brunch at home, we went to see a house we want to rent.  It was AMAZING.  Then we went to Stuart’s workplace so he could get his Sunday work done and submit our rental application.  After that, we came back to the apartment and went to the pool for an hour before grilling again.

It was such a lovely weekend, the perfect end to a good week!

What did you do this week?  Anything exciting happen?

Week In Review: Rhonda

Another week behind us.  It was a really good one, y’all.  There were some very, very bad moments, but overall it was amazing.  Isn’t it weird though how short weeks actually feel extremely long?!

Stuart had to work on Monday, but was able to get out early enough to grill for us again.  We live for that shit.

Independence Day has always been my absolute favorite holiday.  There is nothing better than spending time outdoors with sunshine, family, grilled meats, and all things ‘Merica.  It was a lovely one!  Stuart even took a plain supermarket cake and put berries on it.  He’s the cutest!

Jonathan did my makeup live for Wine Wednesday over on our Facebook page (make sure you’re tuning in for those because we are just getting started).

Sadly, Jonathan left Thursday and I wanted to cry.  However, I rallied and got my ass to work.  I worked so much on Thursday and Friday, that it all blurred together.  Being your own boss is amazing, but there is NOTHING easy about it.

Saturday, we went to the pool.  It was a great time for all of us, but my favorite parts of the day are always when we come home and grill.

After working over mimosas, we spent Sunday doing our usual things – going to work with Stuart and grilling.
