Week In Review: Rhonda

Well another week has gone by and my kid-free time is OVER.  The kids are back and they came in like a wrecking ball.  Sheesh.

During this week, I started decorating our house for Halloween, meet my mom group for drinks at one of their houses, and shipped out a shitload of orders.

Friday was a freaking exciting day.  My company was holding its Leaders Conference and I eagerly watched groups to see what was announced.  Two new limited edition colors came out, along with reformulated concealers and a new blush.  Pretty much the entire company collectively freaked the fuck out.  All this was happening while I wandered around the Halloween store, staring at my phone watching updates.  That was also the day that I received my first three-figure commission check, so it was a good one.

Saturday, Stuart and I had brunch at home then ran a few errands while we waited on his friend Ben to arrive from Germany.  Then I ran out to do some quick shopping while they caught up.  When I got back, we grilled some steaks and had a lovely dinner together before going out.  We went to the Stockyards to see Justin Moore and Dylan Scott.  What a freaking AMAZING show they both put on.  Justin is especially a super talented entertainer.

Sunday we made brunch for Ben and sat outside in the lovely weather for awhile with him. Then went and got the darling children before coming home to grill.

I think the best part of my week was Saturday night. What was yours?

Week in Review: Rhonda

Last week, we skipped out on our Week in Review posts because we were trying to wrap our minds around the tragedy in Las Vegas.  I don’t know that I’ll ever really be able to wrap my head around it, but I can’t allow my  life to completely halt following tragedies.

My kids are STILL out of town at their dad’s, so I have been trying to be productive while doing some things for myself as well.  Let’s just hit the highlights of the last two weeks, in no particular order.

There was bath beer, drinks with the girls, and sunbathing.

There was patio chilling and grilling, and yummy comfort food whipped up in the kitchen.

There was more sunbathing and a date night.

There was brunch at our spot.

It was a lovely couple of weeks and the freedom I have had is coming to an end – this weekend!  What would you do if you only had a few remaining kid-free days?

Week In Review: Rhonda

What a whirlwind this week was!  I am still so exhausted from it all and even woke up this morning with a stomach bug.

So, Monday, I got some work done and then went out for drinks with my mom group.

Tuesday, I got ready to go out of town – cleaning, laundry, packing, and a couple of errands.

I headed to Mississippi on Wednesday morning.  Now, it is not a short trip by any stretch of the imagination, but it was absolutely nice to have that time alone to think and process life.  I made it to Ashley’s house in time to hang out and then do Wine Wednesday Live after the kids went to bed.

Thursday was finally Hair Day.  I am so excited to have blonde and fun colors back.  I feel so much more like myself when my hair is on point.

My stylist and I had so much fun.  I was her only client for the day, so we took our time, sipped some wine, visited an old school liquor store, and chatted about life.  It was much-needed girl time.

Ashley, Grace, and I went out to the IP, as we always tend to do.  We saw a fun band called Got Groove and I made pals with the lead singer.  Ashley went home to get some sleep before work, but Grace and I were just getting started!  We went over to Coast Nightclub at the Beau Rivage to do some more booty shaking.  After that, we hit up Waffle House.  Such a great time!

Friday, I had lunch with Jonathan while I waited for Ashley to get off.  When she got out of work, we hit the road back to Texas.  Read her week in review for how that road trip went.

On Saturday, we had some of Stuart’s signature brunch food and chilled out and sipped wine with music on.  That night, we went live for a GRWM and headed out to the Stockyards.  A great night with music and drinks!  Ashley left Sunday and I sunbathed in the backyard, recovering from a crazy week!

Did y’all do anything fun this past week?

Week In Review: Rhonda

I am happy to be here for another Monday. Sometimes I just wake up incredibly grateful for my life and this is one of those.  Maybe it’s just because I’m home alone for the first time in months? Anyway, let’s look at what I’ve been doing.

Tuesday, I hosted a playdate for a local mom group I am in.  With it being a daytime weekday event, I knew that we wouldn’t have a lot of attendance.  A lot of the mothers have children in public school or work during the day.  Anyway, I decided to just roll with it and I am glad I did.  We made new friends and had a lovely time!

Wednesday, I did a really tough weight lifting workout, then some intensive reading and vocabulary work with the kids.  In the evening, Ashley and I had our weekly Wine Wednesday broadcast, where I reviewed one of Target’s new exclusive $5 wines.  Be sure to go back and check that out on our Facebook page.  You’ll also want to be sure to tune in this Wednesday, because I am going to Mississippi and we will be doing the broadcast side by side!

Thursday, I got in my latest order from Baths & Bliss.  Y’all, this company and its products are amazing.  I got Minerva bath bombs and they are intoxicating.  You get such a great size bomb for the price and my entire bathroom smells amazing just from the bombs sitting on the side of the tub.  After my bath, my skin was so silky and soft and smelled amazing for way beyond 12 hours.

We dropped the kids off with their dad on Saturday morning and I spent the rest of the weekend sunbathing, day drinking, grilling, and watching TV.  It was absolutely glorious and a much-needed time of relaxation.

What did you do this week?  Same old routine or something different?

Week In Review: Rhonda

Another week has gone by and THANK YOU for stopping in again to see what I’ve been up to.  Honestly, I feel like I’m autopilot a lot lately.  It’s been awhile since I had a parenting break.  Fortunately, I have a long one starting Saturday.  Trust me, we ALL need it.

Monday through Thursday were pretty typical.  School, business, and domestic shit – including, but not limited to, breaking a vintage pyrex mixing bowl.

Friday I lifted weights for the first time since moving into the new house.  It was actually under 90 degrees for once, so working out in the garage was a perfect solution.  I smashed the workout, then ran some errands with the kids before coming home to do more domestic shit.  I love starting a weekend with a clean house!

Starting the weekend with a clean house allowed me to be able to sunbathe all weekend again.  Claudia and I totally enjoyed the lower temps.

She got her first haircut.  She had nonstop asked for me to cut it, so I gave in and I have to admit, it looks a lot better.

There is literally nothing I love more than lounging in the sun with a cocktail and some great music.  Sealing in my color before it gets too cool and I am loving the way I feel in my skin.

Did you have nice weather this week?  What did you do?

Week In Review: Rhonda

Happy Labor Day,  y’all!  If you’re into that kind of thing.  I know a lot of you probably do not have the day off.  As a business owner, I have been relaxing all weekend since Stuart took a 4-day weekend.  I haven’t stopped working, just slowed down a little.

Monday through Wednesday passed as they always do – in a blur.  Lots of learning and domesticating and shit.  The kids finally got their mattresses in and can now sleep elevated like most other humans.

Thursday, I started in my new journal since my first one is full and it’s the start of a new month.  The kids took the week to study where they live, starting at the level of our home address, and working through city-county-state-country-continent-planet.  I thought they would be so excited to color a big map together, but no – they fought through it and walked away 7 minutes in.

Stuart stayed home Friday and we went to the store to stock up on some groceries.  I had a terrible sinus headache so I got in bed when we got home.  I didn’t nap (totally not a napper), but lying down for a bit helped.  We commenced our weekend grilling routine Friday night.

Saturday, I decided my summer tan was fading much more quickly than I am comfortable with so I hit the backyard.  I used to keep a tan all year long, but as I’ve aged and started taking better care of my skin, it fades much faster.

I did more of the same on Sunday, but it was a good deal hotter.  I got as close as I could to the fan and utilized a water misting bottle and frozen washcloths on my head to keep cool.  I got some great sun!

It was a really lovely week and we are totally in love with our new house and neighborhood!  What have you been doing over the holiday weekend?

Week In Review: Rhonda

God, that week felt so long.  It seemed to just drag on and was exhausted the entire week.  I think I know why though, and more about that later.  So let’s recap.

Seriously, Monday through Friday were an absolute blur.  Sleepiness, exhaustion, Target runs, with Wine Wednesday up in the middle.  Also at some point during the week, I made a HUGE business decision and spent a lot of time planning for that.

I also decided during the week that the reason I have been so tired and moody and run-down is due to backsliding on my healthy lifestyle.  Since moving, things have been wild and busy and definitely unhealthy.  I decided that Monday would be a reboot.  Meal prep and workouts on their way!

Saturday we got up and got busy shopping for things for the house and putting up lights in the backyard.  We had “a few friends” over (let’s just call it what it was – a hell of a party) and Stuart set the backyard on fire.  So that was lovely.

Sunday, Stuart, Claudia, and I hopped in the car and spent the afternoon in some different areas of the DFW.  We went to the Japanese book store Kinokuniya to get my copper Leuchtturm1917 journal that I’ve wanted for a few months.  Then we went to get some Bing Su (a tasty shaved ice treat) while we were in this Asian strip mall.  After that, we headed to IKEA where Claudia promptly made herself at home.  She wanted to sit in every chair and lie down in every bed.  Stuart and I argued over chairs, because of course.  Back at home, Stuart hung more lights in the backyard and grilled and Quentin and I prepped my lunches for the week.

Now I’m ready to tackle a new week. We are starting school and I am rebooting a healthy lifestyle. Do you ever feel like you just need to start over on everything?

Week In Review: Ashley

Hey y’all hey! Welcome back to another Monday of Week In Reviews. 🙂 So glad you’re here. Ok, sooo prepare for lots of me going on and on about Pre-K drama.

Monday & Tuesday & Wednesday were pretty typical. As you know (or don’t know if you don’t regularly read my WIR posts…) we have been riding the struggle bus when it comes to getting Cooper adjusted to full day Pre-K. He has been freaking out at drop off each day. HOWEVER We had some fantastic days of drop off during the first part of this week! Cooper didn’t cry one bit which was super fantastic. I really felt like we were making some progress.

Then. His teacher called Wednesday afternoon to say that he’d been having a hard day. She said he was whining a lot and very concerned about what was going to happen next…as in he was asking her this every five minutes or so. The wanting to know what is next – well that’s just his personality. He’s super aware of his surroundings. He always wants to know the span of events that lie before him. I can understand though how that is frustrating. Because seriously you guys, some days I have to tell him “enough with the questions…I’ve already told you this over and over again.” She did suggest that maybe he needs more one on one time and attention from me. I get that. I decided I’d start making more deliberate attempts at giving him my attention in the evenings. Also, she thought maybe he was trying so hard to keep things together for my sake at drop off that the emotions were coming out throughout the day now. Thursday he was pretty upset at drop off BUT nothing major.  So that night we went to Chick-Fil-A and played at the playground and I took him to Target to pick out a toy for being so good at drop off for the four previous days.  I wanted to give him some positive reinforcement.

Friday morning was a rough rough rough. I’m pretty sure he sensed that it wasn’t a normal day. He could tell that I wasn’t going to work…we weren’t rushing like we normally do. So, about an hour before we had to leave he started getting upset and crying. I normally attempt to console him and do everything that I can to get him calmed down and not crying. However, that day I decided maybe he just needs to cry at home and get it all out of his system? So I let him go on and on. I told him it was ok to cry at home, but when we get to school he has to stop. Did that work? Hell no. He was in major freaking melt down mode once we got to school. I was crying. He was flipping out. It was bad bad bad. I actually told his teacher I was considering taking him out of school. She urged me to take him home that day and think things over, because the truth is that he’ll have to adjust now at Pre-K or later at Kindergarten.

I could tell that he was just doing all that he could in order to get to stay home with me. As soon as he realized he was going home he stopped crying and pitching a fit.

I honestly believe he has some major anxiety issues. I know part of it is that he just can’t control his anxiety and emotions. I get that. I feel for him. It’s stressful on both of us..and sometimes I make it all about me and how it makes me feel and how emotionally draining this whole process has been on me. But I have to remember that HE is the one going to school.

So. I’ve decided to implement some changes and start reinforcing routine for the morning. I don’t know how to fix his anxiety and make all of our transition problems magically go away, but I do know that he thrives in a routine. So yeah, I’m making some changes to our morning so that it will always be the same and consistent – you know as much as I can…I can’t control everything. Unfortunately. 😉 And his dad is going to start dropping him off .. I think that not having to leave me will help.  And I’m also going to do a calendar that we’ll put stickers on everyday that reflect how that day went at drop off and give him little rewards each day when he does well.

But yeah. We shall see if that all makes a difference.

This weekend? We stayed home. Took several trips to Target. Sunday afternoon we did get out for a bit to go the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center in Gulfport. If you are local, you should definitely take your children there. Sunday afternoons are a great time to go because it’s only $6 to enter. That night I made Sangria and watched the BEST Game of Thrones episode from this entire season.

There you have it. What have you guys been up to? Anyone else have some transitioning to Pre-K stories similar to mine? If so, tell me and make me feel better by saying it all worked out in the end. 😉

Week in Review: Rhonda

Thanks for showing up yet again to see what I have been up to.  We have lived through the first week in our new house and I am so pleased to watch the house coming together!  Tuesday the fridge came, which changed everything for the better.   You really get an appreciation for appliances when you have to live without them for several days.

By Thursday, we had settled into an adaptation of our usual routine…waiting out front for Stuart to come home from work, then helping him make his dinner.

I spent Friday running errands and hammering shit into the walls.  It is starting to look less like a model home and more like we live here.

We spent Saturday cleaning and unpacking the remaining boxes in preparation to have friends over.  Some of Stuart’s coworkers came over in the evening and we had some drinks and grilled.

We wrapped up a wonderful weekend by grilling again and then I soaked with a new bath bomb.  Can’t beat that for a Sunday evening!

Here’s to another week!  I hope yours was amazing.

Week In Review: Ashley

Dang. The weeks literally are flying by. I think especially having this weekly documentation … it just puts into perspective how quickly time can seem to go by. When you know. In actuality. Time passes at the same rate.

Also. I have this thing I’ve been meaning to do. Like this big life changing thing. I keep putting it off. It requires some confrontation…and well. I hate confrontation. Not to mention. Well I did mention – but it’s life changing. So anyway. My weeks are going by quickly, because I have this thing on my to do list that I keep skipping over. And another Friday gets here and I’m like damn. I still haven’t done the thing. And it’s just really making me sad. The whole thing. The thing I have to do and me not doing it…

Ok. Sooo anyway…to the things I actually did this week. 🙂

Being real here – I sucked at taking pictures. Sorry Charlies.

Wednesday was my usual off day, and it was also the first day that Cooper would be going to all day school while I was off. It felt so weird leading up to that day. It seemed so strange to be leaving him there when I could very well take care of him. But you guys know. He’s been balking at having to go to school. So, I knew the best course of action was to keep establishing an expected routine by taking him to school and leaving him there the entire day. So, I did which ended up being really nice for Sophie and I. We didn’t have to rush home to get chores finished before time for pick up at 11:45. What did we do? Well, obviously we went by Target – then we stopped by Aunt Grace’s house to visit with her and Uncle Dejan. Soso’s had this thing since…I don’t know…almost birth – that she’s been skittish around Dejan. We’ve been working on it and she actually seems to enjoy him now. Which is a big plus. No more crying and freaking out when she’s in the same room with him! 🙂 🙂

Wednesday night was Wine Wednesday on our Facebook Page. It was a lot of fun..as usual. I did have some nasty storms rolling through that night which was messing with the internet so we had to end things a little early. You should totally go watch the video if you missed it!

Friday night I had dinner with my sister, and then just went home for an early bedtime. OH! Friday morning Cooper DID NOT cry when I dropped him off at school! That was a fantastic start to our day. All the teachers were so happy to see him not upset…I talked about the whole thing on SnapChat that afternoon…soo make sure you’re following us there too! (RAtheMOMachine) We were just having such a great morning that day, and when I pulled into the school parking lot I got a pit in my stomach with dread that he may get upset. He didn’t though! It was just really a great feeling for both of us. He literally talked about it in almost every conversation I had with him for the rest of the weekend. Hopefully this trend continues!

Saturday and Sunday were pretty lazy days. I did spend a little time at my parent’s on Saturday after I sat in WalMart for FOUR hours waiting on an oil change. Four hours. Ridiculous. Cooper stayed the night with Grammy and Ppop so Sophie and I hit up Target that evening. It’s expected right? 😉 Sunday we picked up Cooper on the way home from a quick trip to Slidell to go to Toys R Us.

That evening they were both little wild heathens due to lack of naps; therefore, we started bath/bedtime about 30 minutes earlier than normal. I watched Game of Thrones and then called it a night.

Anddd that’s my week. What were you guys up to?
