Life Lately

Hey hey! It’s that time again where we look over the past couple of weeks and give you guys a glimpse into what’s been going on in our lives. Ready to dive in?

Ashley –

I was just looking back over the photos in my phone to kind of jog my memory on what exactly I’ve been doing, and I’m always embarrassingly shocked at the amount of screen shots vs actual pictures I take. LOL

But yeah, to all the things I’ve been doing. Work and school have been business as usual around these parts. Last week Cooper’s Dad and I totally thought that it was Mardi Gras. We’d been saying to Coop how he was going to have a long weekend. Then, I went over to my parent’s house that Sunday and mom informed me that I was totally wrong about what date it was. Mardi Gras wasn’t until the NEXT week (aka THIS week when you’re reading this). Oops. Thankfully, Coop just rolled with it and went on to school like it was NBD. ūüôā

The weather has been pretty nice. We actually were able to go play at the park and even take a walk on the beach. I cannot wait for some warm southern weather. The kids and I are itching to spend some lazy off days down on the sand and in the water.

It’s crazy to think we are already knee deep in February 2018, because that means Coop’s birthday is just around the corner. He’s going to be FIVE. Like. That’s a big number. A huge deal. I just can’t handle it. He on the other hand? He’s super excited. We’ve already been planning what he wants to do, and he’s got a list of video games that he wants that is a mile long.

This past Friday night I got to have a little girl’s night which was super fun. And this coming up Friday night I get to see Rhonda since she will be in town seeing her brand new nephew!

Anddd that’s about it…what about you boo? What’s been going on in Fort Worth?

Rhonda –

We have had a crazy couple of weeks at my house and, like Ashley, I had to scroll back through my phone photos to refresh my memory.  Also like Ashley, I had tons of screenshots.  oops.

We had a super fun SuperBowl party with all of our favorite people.  I always enjoy hosting our many parties, but they can be stressful with all the buying and preparing food and drinks, cleaning before and after, and just hoping people actually come.   I gave myself a little grace with this party and we made it a potluck.  GOOD DECISION.  I was SO CHILL getting ready for the party!  Everyone brought something to add to the spread and they brought their own booze too.  My bank account was happy and everyone had something they love available to eat.

I always enjoy watching people’s kids play with kids their age, especially when they are kids who don’t get to do that often.¬† It’s so good for them!

My mom’s group and I had planned a night out – dinner and drinks and dancing.¬† Only four of us went but we had the best time.¬† We went to downtown Fort Worth, where we had dinner then barhopped.¬† I checked an item off my bucket list, dancing on the Coyote Ugly bar!

And then РTHEN! Рmy sweet nephew Nolan was born.  We had all been waiting so long for this and I was sad to not be able to be there, but I am so grateful to my mom and my fellow new Aunt, Shelby, for keeping me updated!  My amazing sister-in-law was texting me pictures just a couple of hours after her c-section!  I love my family and so pleased to say I will be seeing them this week.  We are headed out to Mississippi by 5 am tomorrow.

Anyway, as usual our week involved some playing outside¬† and some crying.¬† I mean, if you’re 3 and you don’t cry for no reason, are you even living?

Over this past weekend, I had another dinner and drinks evening with my mom friends.  I had an emotional breakdown at the end, because I got all up in my feelings but it was fine.  We all talked it out and they amazingly still like me, so it was a success.

Stuart surprised me with a pile of presents that I am so so excited about!  I got an Aunt shirt I had been coveting, another addition to my Alex and Ani collection, and some tech accessories!

Now to go prepare for the wild adventure of taking 4 children on a long drive!

What We Wore (and Did) Wednesday

Hey hey! With Ashley being ill and Rhonda being, well, Rhonda, we totally spaced on our Week in Review.¬† And to be honest, they have become a monotonous chore and we are certain it probably reads that way on your end.¬† We will be making changes to this feature in the new year.¬† For now, here’s a peek into what we did this week and what we were wearing.

Rhonda –

Most of the week, I did the thing I do – being a boss babe and a mom.¬† I ran errands and did something very unusual for me – I wore athleisure.¬† I still don’t like it.¬† It was just really cold and I didn’t feel well.

Hoodie: Target last year. Leggings: LLR. Shoes: Old ass Nike. Jacket: Target, no longer available.

Another thing I rarely do?¬† Anything with Stuart on a weekday.¬† However, Grapevine, “The Christmas Capital of Texas,” was having their Christmas parade and he took off early on Thursday to take us.¬† Only Harper and Claudia wanted to go and let me tell you, it was viciously cold.¬† We even had to go to Target beforehand to get more cold weather gear.

I dressed nice and festive and did my lips to match…not that it mattered because it all got covered up with a jacket and scarf.

Shirt: Amazon. Jeans: Old Navy. Boots: Amazon.

We survived, though I’m not sure I would go again with temps that cold.¬† We went to Whataburger after and in all, it was a lovely evening.

Saturday, we forced ALL of the kids out of the house and went to Frisco to eat at Mash’d and see the lights set to music in their town square.¬† I am not sure I would drive to Frisco again just for the light show, as it wasn’t THAT amazing.¬† I loved it though and it was magical when the fake snow started blowing.

Sunday was spent with a trip to Sam’s club after mimosas.¬† We wrapped up the evening by decorating the outside of the house and grilling steaks.

I couldn’t have asked for a better week, but I am definitely getting anxious about Christmas.¬† I still haven’t done any shopping and I have a party Friday night that I haven’t prepped for.¬† This time of year is so bad for my anxiety!

Ashley –

Well Lord. As Rhonda mentioned – I have been sick. Like kick my butt sick. The Flu invaded our household and has been kicking butt and taking names around here. ūüôĀ I currently feel a TINY bit better – but no where near one hundred percent. Just. Over it. But anyway – to the outfits and what we did last week.

This past weekend I took Cooper to a classmate’s birthday party at Margaritaville in Biloxi. It was a lot of fun! We hung out in the party room for a while for food and cake and ice cream before the kids were unleashed to the arcade area which was what Cooper had been looking forward to.

We also spent some time over at Grammy and Ppop’s house. You know. Just relaxing… chasing the kids around the backyard. ūüôā

And gosh – the rest of the week prior? Just the usual man. This flu invasion has seriously got my mind in a fog. So – I’ll just leave it at that. ūüôā Hope y’all are having a great holiday season so far!

Week In Review: Rhonda

Hey hey, and welcome back to a glimpse into my week.¬† Life has been a doozy lately with Claudia going through a phase of wanting all my attention, all the time.¬† I have tried to just embrace this phase of life and be thankful that I have the opportunity to watch her grow and learn and become a little lady.¬† Shit, it’s a challenge though.

She has been wild, dabbing and ridding her tricycle and playing Little Mama.

We did a lot of fun school lessons this week, learning about Arizona.¬† The kids love this state project we are working on.¬† Previously, they couldn’t really see past Texas or Mississippi.

Harper is absolutely obsessed with cooking and baking, so I have started to let go of a little control and let him in my beloved kitchen, mostly with free reign.¬† He decided to do cupcakes this week and they were delicious!¬† The cleanup wasn’t so fun though.

Quentin and Claudia helped me make my first roasted chicken (come back tomorrow for more about that experience) on Friday.  Then Saturday, we went to tour a possible wedding venue (now marked off the list).  In the evening, our friends came over to have drinks and dinner with us.  We had so much fun.  Lots of laughter.

On Sunday, the weather was sunny and perfect and Claudia wanted to play outside.¬† So we played in the driveway and ended up rolling out mats to lie down and soak up the sun.¬† After nap time, we went to a holiday parade.¬† We were so freaking late and parked a couple of miles away.¬† We were too late to get a good spot for viewing.¬† Quentin and Claudia took turns on Stuart’s shoulders.¬† I held Claudia on mine a little, but it was hurting with her dancing on my shoulders.¬† She’s a mess.¬† We enjoyed getting into the spirit of the season for sure!

Now onto Thanksgiving!¬† I can’t wait to have a good and hearty meal on Thursday and enjoy a long weekend together as a family.¬† AND PUT UP MY TREEEEEES!

How was your week?  Are you in total holiday mode yet?

Week In Review: Rhonda

I know, I know…I literally say this every single week.¬† But seriously – where did the week go?!

Monday, I did some much-needed meal planning and grocery shopping.¬† I also took Quentin to Target to spend his birthday money.¬† It is always one of my least favorite things to do, because I end up continually talking the kids out of buying shit with a million tiny pieces or stuff I know they won’t play with.¬† I was thankful that he actually made some good solid decisions and it was fun!

Wednesday, true to my extra self, I designed and ordered Thanksgiving Dinner invitations to send to my parents and ex-husband.  I love how they turned out (the black rectangle is actually blacking out my address, not part of the design).

The rest of the week was full of working my business, recovering from an epic Wine Wednesday (seriously, you have to show up for these live broadcasts if you aren’t already), wedding planning, and juggling mom life.

Then the glorious weekend rolled around and it was time for football, day drinking, and lots of relaxing.

We rounded out Sunday with hair cuts for all the boys (and a fake out snip for Claudia who can’t be left out of anything), which was needed in the worst way.

How was your week?  Do you watch football on the weekends?

Week In Review: Rhonda

Another crazy-ass week in my life.  I guess this is just the norm now.

Tuesday was Halloween and we donned our costumes again and traipsed around the neighborhood.  My daughter has been continually cracked out on candy for over a week now.

Wednesday was Stuart’s birthday and even though we were saving the celebration for Saturday’s party, we did make him cards during our school time.

After a couple of days of party planning, schooling, and working my ass off on my business, it was party day!  I helped pull off an amazing surprise by keeping my mouth shut and not telling Stuart that his sister was driving from Mississippi for the party.

Quentin and Stuart shared a party and they wouldn’t have had it any other way.¬† It was a YouTube theme, per Quentin’s request.¬† We kept it simple and it was perfect.

Sunday, we recuperated from another crazy party and just spent a lot of time as a family.

What’s been going on in your life?

Week In Review: Rhonda

Not even sure how another week has already passed since I last wrote my week in review.¬† Where did the week even go? Hmm…let’s see…

We started the week with trying to get into a routine again after the kids returned from their dad’s.¬† This meant workouts, outside play time, and healthy, hearty meals.

By Tuesday, I was ready for some tequila.  Like, really had a craving for it.  I made some delicious margaritas with fresh watermelon and enjoyed them on the front porch while the kids played with neighbors.

Friday, we had a sangria play date with a mom group.  The kids and I all had such a great time.  Unfortunately, in the evening Stuart was on his way to join us when the shifter on his motorcycle snapped in half.  He was fortunately moving relatively slowly in a residential area and not on the interstate.  I had to leave the party to go follow him home at literally 12 MPH, since the shifter broke while in first gear.  We then went back to the party and had a couple of drinks before heading home.

Saturday, we just hung out as we usually do and practiced Lipsense application on Claudia so that we will be ready for Halloween makeup.  Sunday was amazing weather, so we took full advantage with some time in the sunshine!  An absolutely lovely weekend for sure!

What was the highlight of your week?

Week In Review: Rhonda

Well another week has gone by and my kid-free time is OVER.  The kids are back and they came in like a wrecking ball.  Sheesh.

During this week, I started decorating our house for Halloween, meet my mom group for drinks at one of their houses, and shipped out a shitload of orders.

Friday was a freaking exciting day.  My company was holding its Leaders Conference and I eagerly watched groups to see what was announced.  Two new limited edition colors came out, along with reformulated concealers and a new blush.  Pretty much the entire company collectively freaked the fuck out.  All this was happening while I wandered around the Halloween store, staring at my phone watching updates.  That was also the day that I received my first three-figure commission check, so it was a good one.

Saturday, Stuart and I had brunch at home then ran a few errands while we waited on his friend Ben to arrive from Germany.  Then I ran out to do some quick shopping while they caught up.  When I got back, we grilled some steaks and had a lovely dinner together before going out.  We went to the Stockyards to see Justin Moore and Dylan Scott.  What a freaking AMAZING show they both put on.  Justin is especially a super talented entertainer.

Sunday we made brunch for Ben and sat outside in the lovely weather for awhile with him. Then went and got the darling children before coming home to grill.

I think the best part of my week was Saturday night. What was yours?

Week in Review: Rhonda

Last week, we skipped out on our Week in Review posts because we were trying to wrap our minds around the tragedy in Las Vegas. ¬†I don’t know that I’ll ever really be able to wrap my head around it, but I can’t allow my ¬†life to completely halt following tragedies.

My kids are STILL out of town at their dad’s, so I have been trying to be productive while doing some things for myself as well. ¬†Let’s just hit the highlights of the last two weeks, in no particular order.

There was bath beer, drinks with the girls, and sunbathing.

There was patio chilling and grilling, and yummy comfort food whipped up in the kitchen.

There was more sunbathing and a date night.

There was brunch at our spot.

It was a lovely couple of weeks and the freedom I have had is coming to an end Рthis weekend!  What would you do if you only had a few remaining kid-free days?

Week In Review: Rhonda

What a whirlwind this week was!  I am still so exhausted from it all and even woke up this morning with a stomach bug.

So, Monday, I got some work done and then went out for drinks with my mom group.

Tuesday, I got ready to go out of town – cleaning, laundry, packing, and a couple of errands.

I headed to Mississippi on Wednesday morning. ¬†Now, it is not a short trip by any stretch of the imagination, but it was absolutely nice to have that time alone to think and process life. ¬†I made it to Ashley’s house in time to hang out and then do Wine Wednesday Live after the kids went to bed.

Thursday was finally Hair Day.  I am so excited to have blonde and fun colors back.  I feel so much more like myself when my hair is on point.

My stylist and I had so much fun.  I was her only client for the day, so we took our time, sipped some wine, visited an old school liquor store, and chatted about life.  It was much-needed girl time.

Ashley, Grace, and I went out to the IP, as we always tend to do.  We saw a fun band called Got Groove and I made pals with the lead singer.  Ashley went home to get some sleep before work, but Grace and I were just getting started!  We went over to Coast Nightclub at the Beau Rivage to do some more booty shaking.  After that, we hit up Waffle House.  Such a great time!

Friday, I had lunch with Jonathan while I waited for Ashley to get off.  When she got out of work, we hit the road back to Texas.  Read her week in review for how that road trip went.

On Saturday, we had some of Stuart’s signature brunch food and chilled out and sipped wine with music on. ¬†That night, we went live for a GRWM and headed out to the Stockyards. ¬†A great night with music and drinks! ¬†Ashley left Sunday and I sunbathed in the backyard, recovering from a crazy week!

Did y’all do anything fun this past week?

Week In Review: Rhonda

I am happy to be here for another Monday. Sometimes I just wake up incredibly grateful for my life and this is one of those. ¬†Maybe it’s just because I’m home alone for the first time in months? Anyway, let’s look at what I’ve been doing.

Tuesday, I hosted a playdate for a local mom group I am in. ¬†With it being a daytime weekday event, I knew that we wouldn’t have a lot of attendance. ¬†A lot of the mothers have children in public school or work during the day. ¬†Anyway, I decided to just roll with it and I am glad I did. ¬†We made new friends and had a lovely time!

Wednesday, I did a really tough weight lifting workout, then some intensive reading and vocabulary work with the kids. ¬†In the evening, Ashley and I had our weekly Wine Wednesday broadcast, where I reviewed one of Target’s new exclusive $5 wines. ¬†Be sure to go back and check that out on our Facebook page. ¬†You’ll also want to be sure to tune in this Wednesday, because I am going to Mississippi and we will be doing the broadcast side by side!

Thursday, I got in my latest order from Baths & Bliss. ¬†Y’all, this company and its products are amazing. ¬†I got Minerva bath bombs and they are intoxicating. ¬†You get such a great size bomb for the price and my entire bathroom smells amazing just from the bombs sitting on the side of the tub. ¬†After my bath, my skin was so silky and soft and smelled amazing for way beyond 12 hours.

We dropped the kids off with their dad on Saturday morning and I spent the rest of the weekend sunbathing, day drinking, grilling, and watching TV.  It was absolutely glorious and a much-needed time of relaxation.

What did you do this week?  Same old routine or something different?
