Hello Party People! So glad to see you back…or to see you for the first time? It’s that day of the week when we regale you with all the fancy things we’ve been up to. 😉 Really. I always look forward to reading Rhonda’s WIR – and I talk to her pretty much everyday all day. SO that little fact gives me some glimmer of hope that you might be just a little bit entertained by our day to day around here. Because. You don’t talk to me everyday. (most likely..unless this is my Mom reading this, or sister ..)
Alright, now what DID we do this past week?
Tuesday was Mardi Gras. We didn’t do any parades. The kids are just too young for that whole process to even be enjoyable. We just parked it up per the usual.
Then we came home. The kids took nice long naps, and I was able to get a lot of cleaning/other chores done around the house. Just some good old fashioned adulting. 😉
It occurred to me this week, as I thought about posting this week in review, that I think I’ve been showing only the highlights of our days. And come on, this is Rage Against the MOMachine. I decided to make an effort to be a little bit more real. 😉
Exhibit A ^ . This is Sophie throwing a tantrum because … hold your breath…. I took her toothbrush away. She’s in that phase where she thinks its a toy. And it tastes good. So she just wants to suck on it. For the remainder of her bath. So yeah. This is a nightly thing. I did have an epiphany, after snapping these pictures. I thought to myself, why are you even insisting on taking it away? Just let her do what she wants after the tooth brushing is done. Really. What’s the harm? (Yup. Some internal conversation for ya. 😉 ) Now, I just brush her teeth and let her have at it afterwards. No more tantrums. lol
Saturday morning, I stopped by CVS on my way to my parent’s house. I went in with the intention of finding some new imPress nails. I came out with those nails….and some other things too. OOPS.
The rest of Saturday looked like this. 🙂 It was pretty awesome. THEN. Saturday night Sophie slept the entire night from 8 pm until almost 9:30 am the next morning!! Yup. Moms of other littles, who are still figuring out the whole sleep thing, be jealous. I can stand it. 😉
Sunday Morning? Well my little sleeping beauty, despite her almost 12 hours of rest the night before, woke up in a foul mood.
^^ Some more realness for ya. What was this about? Well. She wanted to play with my makeup brushes. Which, I just couldn’t allow. She does have her own brush, but of course that has somehow disappeared. I even gave her my spare beauty blender. (Bottom left corner of top right photo) That wasn’t good enough. She threw it down. lol
We survived that though. 🙂 Got all packed up, picked up Aunt Grace – and made our way back to Grammy and Ppop’s. My brother changed the oil and filters in my car. The kids played. The grownups talked.
No naps were taken that day. So. Cooper had a little meltdown that afternoon. He cried. I cried. It was pretty rough for a little bit. But hey, that’s the mom life. Some moments it is hard AF. Some DAYS it is a bitch. But I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I just wanted to share some of those real moments from my week. Overall, things were fantastic. But not every single second. And if you are a mom, (or a dad, or an aunt, or an uncle, or a step parent, or a grandparent) – I know you will appreciate knowing that we are real over here.
But yeah. That was pretty much it. Sunday evening we made a short trip to Target for some essentials. Then we came home and promptly started bath/bedtime stuff at seven pm…because: tired babies, who hadn’t napped. 🙂
What’s that cute picture for? Well, I thought I’d throw in a happy one of Soso – you know…since I was a real classy mom and put her fits on display for the world to see. 😉
What were you guys up to? How was your week?
Until next time…
